Bad news.

The First Anti-Custom Firmware Game "Evangelion: Jo"

The First Game that detects Custom Firmware is here!

This time it's confirmed, there is at least one set that detects Custom Firmwares and displays it clearly in refusing to start. What is this game?

The developers of the game Evangelion: Jo added to their game detector Custom Firmware.

When you start the game a message will splash on the screen saying "that the system installed is not official and therefore the game will not start."

Ok The game starts but it's not playable.

If the rumors about a malicious cracker Rock Band are still subject to controversy, the game itself is really allergic to the presence of a Custom Firmware.

Note that this is not the version number which raises concerns, but the method for detection (directly in RAM). Whether as a UMD or Rip version,

the game hangs on this page with a soft classical music.

If you spent more or less 48 euros (like us) to bring it from Japan, use a pandora kit to install an official firmware before you play.

or install the Custom Firmware 5.02GEN-A proposes to reboot in official firmware without having to flash anything. Note that this option will

be added to the next update to our 5.50GEN-A.

well, the games I play are not in Japansese nor from Japan, so i am not quite too worried, at least at the moment i am not. but even if this spreads to all the games that are being released or rereleased, i am sure there is (or will) be a way to bypass this CFW/OFW check.

and btw, Nick, could you show us where u got this from? (im assuming you got it from somewhere

)

There is already an *almost* solution to the problem, emulating the official firmware. Perhaps even reviving DevHook to bypass this.

Yeah somewhere i saw that they will update the 5.50 Gen and they will put a "reboot to original firmware" option.
I hope that they will release and the 1.50 kernel for this CFW.

I'd love to see good old devhook revived but it's more than likely that dax will come up with a fix. Maybe even Fanjita/Noobz will.

I wonder if DevHook would work with 5.50? I don't think anyone has messed with it in a while.

Awesome. Glad to see them taking a stance. Sure, there are people who will buy the product, dump it, and run it from their MS, but the more likely thing for someone who has a custom firmware would be to download the game for free = piracy.

I think Fanjita/Noobz retired because they were tired of the rampant piracy in the scene. I doubt they would make a patch for something as touchy as this, lol.

Interesting. I'm not too sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing as I am guilty of crimes as well. =\ I suppose its good if it gets me to actually buy games from the companies I'd actually like to support. UMD's are still a pain though.

Well they were working on a 3000 hack before chickhen beat them to the punch so they are still around. They might make a patch for this because it also stops it working if you actually buy the game not just if you pirate it. I still doubt they will though. it will probably be some lesser known dev that makes a plugin or something to bypass it.

This probably can be bypassed very easily, maybe a couple lines in cwcheat or another address patcher.

theres already a fix for this. a plugin called anti cfw was released in this forum last year. it lets you boot into ofw.

Haha, well so much for this problem.

I dont really see devs blocking games, cuz even if they blocked the ISO from starting, it wont make the people pirating the game buy it anyway.
