sorry for offtopic
if i remember correctly it was not close as good as the 1.5 version, and i know it still does not use the extra ram... but hey i have hot-keys for changing timemachine firmwares. back on topic, anyone think a simple sdk will be released before the utopia project is released? (this is common in the commercial industry to sell more units etc.) Though i dont suspect one, it would persuade a lot of more people to install the utopia kernel the first day of release, as there would be initial homebrew to use with it.

not for me to say but are you holdin the utopia project back?

is it because you want to implment it into the 4.00 firmware before sony can patch it out after your hard work?

or is it because the 4.00 firmware will be different to the other firmwares so you want to wait to patch it into that to save yourself work?

also keep up the hacking guys, hacking the firmware means sony has to update it, and while they do they add new things in, so keep up the good work

The idea of Utopia is to be independent from Sony so the devs can continually update it how they see fit.

I think they will wait for 4.00, or it isn't finished yet!
And, imagine if it was released 1 week after 4.00 was released (assuming the cfw was released in that short time)... how pissed off would Sony be??

that is exactly what i asked except for the unfinished part, but yeah it may be unfinished, they do sit on things and dont work on them, i dont blame them its not like they have to do it all they get is the pleasure of knowing that they created something that everyone can use.

i was going to ask this before aswell but i forgot to ask, did math tell people to learn how to and convert to the 3.xx kernel so it would be easier for them to get used to using the utopia kernel?

I was hoping it would be a complete custom firmware. But compatibility with UMDs is important hence its a kernel add on as of now. But I hope that in time it becomes a full CFW with its own GUI etc. and it should be able to load Sony libraries externally just like we run Windows games with WINE.

Yes. To be honest I probably won't use it due to that (mainly the homebrew part).

No I'm sure the firmware will be just like a normal CFW. Just that when you boot a Utopia homebrew, it will run with the Utopia kernel. Just like GAME150 folder homebrew runs in the 1.50 kernel.

Well, I will probably put it on my second PSP. Lol, I got it for free from my friend who said it was "broken." Although how he managed to brick it on OFW will always be a mystery to me.

Why? He already has another psp. The "broken" one was sitting in a cabinet for over a year, and was of no use to him. He already knows that I fixed it and he doesn't care, lol.

I bricked OFW before. Its possible but you have to do it at perfect timing. I was changing a PTF theme on 3.80 OFW, and when it told me Not shut off the PSP, I did exactly that. What happened was a semi-bricked PSP.

Turn it off while updating can do just that. Hopefully by some miracle Ahman will reform IRShell to work around the Utopia Project that would be great

He abandoned it several times if I remember correctly.

And now that Utopia is announced, who the **** cares? This is going to be useless for most of the scene. It can't even run our old homebrew. And I'm pretty sure there's going to be no way to run two kernels side by side. This project really disappointed me.

But, when the developers code for the new kernel, that means the users will have to install the new kernel in order to run the homebrew. And none of the users are going to install the new kernel if they can't run all of their old homebrew or ISOs.

... the Sony kernel will remain, Utopia will be a second kernel booted in the same way as for example the 1.50 kernel add-on does.
Read up about it before you immediatly start to say it's useless.
