Alright, first off I don't exactly know where to post this kind of thing so sense it list mods in the name I posted it here... moderators feel free to move this to wherever it fits better.
Anywhome, getting straight to the point... PSP Hard Drive. Anyone who listen's to alot of music, likes videos of some sort of another, or has custom firmware and loves putting all there ps1 games and umd's to disc so they dont have to pack them around ect... knows about how much easier a psp hard drive would make things.
Now the thing I'm shocked about is with the PSP vast firmware community why no one has gotten to far with the idea yet and why so few have attempted it.
Now to point out some theory's. Most of you probably know of the Datel 4gb hard drive that came out a couple of years ago... from what I hear (sadly haven't been able to get my hands on it otherwise I'd mess with it myself) It has a normal CompactFlash connector inside in which the 4 gb micro drive is attached to, meaning! that you should be able to attach a larger mircro drive in its place...
:/ now that would be the easiest way of doing it but I've heard hear and there that the psp wouldnt sense the memory correctly or something if it was more then 4 gigs... Which again I find to be kind of dumb because... wouldn't it be a fairly reasonable and not too difficult concept, to try and fix that problem through Custom Firmware?
The other option I've heard of is having the Hard Drive go through the USB connector, which wouldn't be a big deal if it wasn't for the fact you cant use the usb at the same time you use the hard drive and it would be difficult to use the hard drive as an all around memory stick if it was read through the usb port.
Now again the question I ponder to myself is with the PSP's huge home brew community, why cant we figure out how to make the psp read from the usb instead of the memorystick solving that problem.
NOTE: There was one such person I heard of who connected a 30GB HDD Microdrive to his psp, taking out the UMD drive and putting it in its place and connecting it through the USB. He accessed it using AhMan's IR-Shell, but from the looks of it was very hard to use and mainly just functioning as a transfer space for when the memory stick became full. Where as I'd like to see it used as a main drive. Also something that disappoints me is other then the initial news of that little development I've heard and found nothing sense about it.
I know I cant be the only one who wants to have a 30gb+ hard drive in there psp, why hasn't anyone done anything much with it? Are any of the concepts or theory's I listed possible? they defiantly seem solid enough...
