Personally i don't think it has died, It's just slow at the moment, Like I am working on a pretty big project right now (RPG) so I'm just in the middle of developing, but thats just my opinion.

No, it isn't dyeing.
But it may by dying just a little.

I've found some homebrew to play recently. And I don't just play it for 5 minutes!

Of course it's dyeing, multiple colors have been released for years.

It also might be dying, things certainly have been fairly slow recently.

Sorry about the spelling mistake (Stupid Safari)

The scene, in fact everything seems to be slow at the moment.

Even the retail side of things.

It's true, things are slowing down in both the homebrew community and the retail community. Hopefully when the PSP-3000 is released the interest in it will peak once again. Sony just hasn't done a good enough job lately of promoting it. It also needs less ports and more unique, exclusive PSP games that separate it from other handhelds (NDS in particular)

I've been waiting for that since day one..the less ports and more unique, exclusive games. Franchise games are cool too but they're still not new.

The psp is quickly dying to me. The Wii is all I use now that it's also hacked. I haven't used my psp as much anymore.

Resistance Retribution I think might peak interest for at least a little while, similar to GoW. It's using the Syphon filter 3rd-gen engine, and coded by the same team that brought two of the best games on the PSP, so I don't see how it can be bad.

Well, if we look at Metacritic, I would say that the PSP is dying. Few to none of the new games are getting any reviews at all, so I guess reviewers have lost interest in the games the PSP gets these days.

..It might also be because all the games that have been released recently have been so bad that they don't deserve any reviews at all.

Hopefully the new Resistance game and such can fix this.

yes, im really not kidding, the psp hasnt come out with anything solid and new since its release, especially for the US. the camera sux, gps is pretty pointless in the US. The only thing that kept it going is homebrew, and firmware updates, which still havent been all that great.

Agreed, I'm getting tired of Sony trying to revive this thing by releasing it 3 times. Just give up and start on PSP 2.0.

but the psp needs something drastically visibly new. Upgrade the ram by a few mb isn't catching much attention, if they did something like built in camera, possibly gsm sim card cell phone, a better browser that supports more plugins and flash ans stuff of the like. Built in motion detector, touch screen, etc. If they came up with something new that ordinary people can grasp it would boost the psp. Only a handful of people understand ram and such, like me, which is why i got the slim. I think the 3000 is pointless to buy unless you a psp fanatic or buying one for the first time.

Well, if you're buying a PSP for the first time, it's pointless to buy a 3K if it's unhackable.

Eventually it will be hacked, in case sony doesn't use hackable mobos in it.

Hopefully with the addition on the PSN we get faster internet browsing...well...for the PSP-3000's at least.

If they're gonna add a new web browser and a PS Store they should at least update the WiFi Chip from 802.11b to 802.11g...

The thing is sony aren't really putting anything useful into firmware updates anymore.

I mean 4.00 was a BIG disappointment.

Personally in the next firmware update id like a better music player. Something like a Walkman UI would be great.

They need to listen to forums like this and get ideas for their firmware updates.

Most people on forums already own the device they're talking about. Any companies goal is to attract more people to their userbase, and a walkman style UI wouldn't really do that. Sure it would be nice to have, but it's not going to influence a buying decision.

I think the homebrew scene is dying, not the PSP scene. Then again, school started for most people, so I suppose there's that to fall back on. Summer wasn't that super active for any site either though.
