UKTV for the PSP?
First off, I sincerely apologise if this is in the wrong place.
So anyway, I've always been interested in having TV for the PSP, but never enough to bother buying a LocationFree player. I've seen various methods, but most of them were either daunting mods or streaming foreign channels from your computer via VLC.
But I came across TvCatchup (google it, I can't link it cos I don't have 10 posts). This site offers high-quality streams of all your typical UK Freeview channels embedded into a simple webpage, for free! I was wondering is it possible these could be transferred to your PSP? Could the PSP handle streams like these?
The website has since re entered beta testing. The new site does not have the recording features of the old site and currently allows users to watch a selection of streamed Freeview channels, although a number of additional channels are planned for introduction. The site operates an open source API policy to encourage development of third party applications, such as recording shows, transcoding to allow storage/viewing on mobile applications and PVR like functions on the user's PC.
The legal status of the website has been confirmed as being perfectly lawful by prominent copyright experts Hamlins LLP of London, who have supervised the technical evaluation of operation by court approved technical consultants, a barrister and an eminent QC, himself considered the leading authority in UK copyright law.
I think there's two problems with this idea :
1) The streams on that site are H264 (or MPEG4?) the PSP can't handle that without re encoding on the fly.
2) The streams use the RTMP protocol therefore its impossible to play back/stream on VLC atm.
