And why state "if this gets finished", I mean, that's incredibly pessimistic, why don't you support him instead of being negative. @Chrisp6825, My bad, didn't really notice them. I did a skim read before I posted so I didn't really notice, then read the whole thread backwards (dunno why backwards XD). Anyway, as I say if you need any help, mainly gathering info, let me know and I'll see if I can help. I can't do much but I can try ^_^. Best of luck and I'm glad my ideas were previously stated. That means they'll happen ^_^ (all good). Also, an ellaboration on the map-making feature. Does this maybe mean people being able to make their own events and things like that? Like a script for noobs compiler? Would be good, I can 't code -_-. Anyay, best of luck to you, and keep up the brilliant work. Nice to see passion for a project is still floating around these days ^_^. |

Thanks Althor. I know it's a big thread now, I didn't mean to sound like you should have known about all that.
Umm I'm up for custom events. I'm just not sure how that would happen... What kind of events? What would be the extent of them? Do you mean like, safari events (contests every tuesday) Or where roads shut down... I'm kind of lost, what do you mean? I could make that part pretty extensive (as in, a person could make any event they could think of) but it would take a ton of work, at least to make a "code interpreter" for a "noob code". Basically, anything that makes the game more customizable for the user sounds great to me. |

I just thought of something that might be cool after you finish.
Every once in a while host an event or something. It doesn't have to be online, but just have a map to download and some added stuff to do. Kinda like how some companies have downloadable content and what not. I don't know just a thought. That way if you find a group that all downloaded the map/event, not only would it be high quality, but you all already have it downloaded on your psps. Like I said just a thought, and not something to think of now. Just take your time and finish. A lot of my friends have been convinced to either dust off their old psps or buy new(used) ones. =] Again, if you need help, just ask.

Well, assuming you'll be implemeting a RTC (Real-Time Clock) into the game then events on weekdays, and then maybe big annual events (this game will last a few years). On easter, christams, new years, halloween and is it thanksgiving you guys have in America ^_^, (I'm from Engalnd so I'm not too sure). Things like that. Global event rooms (would this maybe mean hosting a server?) for players to meet up and do that weeks event or something of the same kinda gist. Maybe do DLC (is it implementable into homebrew?) updates, for when new pokemon are announced (updates system may be easier to manage for "noobs" so that you don't get bombarded by people who don't know where to put the files - no offence meant to anyone here). Safari events would be a good idea, X pokemon on X day would be a good thing ot start with but then make it more dynamic with the seasons later on maybe? Like you said with roads and routes closing, that would be really good (nintendo never really did it <_<) and would make the game a lot more enjoyable and non-linear too. People maybe submitting ideas for events on a website might work, and the winner gets a special pokemon with a ribbon or tag or extra stat, new item, anything. It would also increase the user base and keep people playing and interacting with it for longer and wanting to be part of (.hack reference) "The World" that both you and the users have created together. Obviously "noob code" would take a lot of time to do, so as above, if people just write in about their ideas for stuff in a "monthly" (or something like that) contest, there would be an encouragement for people to maybe join in, or maybe even learn some of the language to write their own stuff. The thing with making an editor for the game would be that you would have to making it a PC based editor (I assume.. again) so abuse of the system would have to be taken into account, maybe "hire/recruit" moderators for the maps that people submit before full compiling the event code or wild pokemon code so that people don't just put in "Ubers" or "Instant Shinies" etc. Keep the game legit and (almost) everyone will be happy. So maybe not making it noob codeable but noob designable would be an idea to take into account, as it would take you less time in the long run too. A few ideas in my head right now: Pokemon Contests from both different generations. (Both D/P (with changes, no touch screen (maybe just the dance bits))) and longer rounds for "Attack Display" from R/S/E. Allow customization of pokemon when they're in battle (dress-em-up kinda idea ^_^) As stated earlier about 3v3 battles, definetly a good thing to go for, it's "technically" an original idea, as Nintendo haven't done it yet :P. EV Display for Pokemon that you are EV training (prize after release for people maybe?) so that they can keep accurate records of the pokemon EV's (an extra page in the pokemon's status) alongside an IV's page too. A comprehensive info guide (Web-based) that you and other "selected" people create for users to access for info and tips. DLC web-page for the psp, where you can download the new maps that you release by you and users. A lot of my ideas are about making it as user-friendly as possible too. Anything that can help the users could in the end benfit you (donations, rep, fame... that kinda thing ^_^.) Anyway, I'll finish there for now, but if you want to try and contact me then you can PM me for my E-mail address if you want ^_^. I still got loads to say ^_^. |

i have an idea for adding coustumes/accessories to the pokemon, you could have a base image like this:
![]() then you could have the accessorie image like this(custimized to suit target pokemon, also in the game files so everyone has it): ![]() you could then have it some how say if shades are on load this picture right on top of it and you would get this: ![]() this would take a lot of work to make a picture for each pokemon though but i'm sure that you could figure it out and i would help out in any way posible.(or you could just make a single image with both parts in it) keep up the good work |

In your case it would require some expert resizing skills. The only problem that I sorta figured out after my post and thinking about your post it would be difficult adding them on due to not having a touch screen -_-. That's the problem at the moment is finding replacements to the touch screen.

@Cmbeke
No worries man ^_^. Just cool that you know what I mean :P. Quote:
L = X dimensions R = Y dimensions or vice versa. Then: L + UP = Increase in X L + Down = Decrease in X R + UP = Increase in Y R + Down = Decrease Y R + L = Reset original dimensions. My only worry is that this would maybe need to be a standalone homebrew program or make this game multi-app. Another idea I literally just had (right now): Use the Phantasy Star Portable resizer idea. Analog + Grid Square = X & Y increase/decrease. This may be the most user - friendly way of dealing with it anyway ^_^. Then as you said FlameTai1 the D-Pad would serve as movement/position on the pokemon in correspondance to X & Y position. The other solution is to just make "Pokemon Specific" and possibly "Position Specific" Items, but I don't think it would be as popular ^_^. A couple more ideas for ya here Chrisp6825: 1) Color Pallette editor: Changing the colors of Pokemon (I aren't too fond of that bit), or changing item colors (means less messing with editing lots of sprites for different colors but then everyone gets whatever color they want, may save you a lot of time in the long run if you do accesories). Also, it would look good on you as this isn't normally in other homebrews (a color wheel/square). 2) Rematch Feature OK, this is definetly a must have bit, but that's not what I want to mention. Maybe a "feature on a feature" idea this, but checking the "improved" levels of the opponent you may want to rematch? So some specific opponents get added like the match call from R/S and you can check the new levels of those Pokemon, and base EV's (no mods like macho brace/pokérus) of those Pokemon. 3) Elite Four (I'm gonna yet again assume here): I'm assuming your making the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh maps so how would the leagues work? 3 thoughts on that from me are: A) When you beat one league the next league would have to be more difficult (higher levels?) B) When you beat the league, all your Pokemon get put into temporary storage after each league so that you start a "fresh" adventure (new starter for the respective region you are about to travel). This may annoy other I thinki though. Maybe something to put on Poll? C)One league, One set-up, but this "fixed" league has random Elite Four members. E.g: Agatha Lance Aaron Koga (Johto Elite four not Kanto gym leader) Cynthia Then the next time you go: Bruno Pheobe Drake Karen Gary It would make it harder for people to just rush through the league over and over and make the game a bit more in-depth. Also maybe meeting ex-champions mid way through the league. E.g: Bruno Cynthia Pheobe Drake Champion or Another Elite four member 4) Experience Experience bonuses? Not exactly a rare candy instand level effect as more of a Experience bonus ability (maybe second ability? Maybe a 1 in X chance when caught, bred, given etc.?) As for the veterans to the game will know, levelling up Pokemon takes an age and a half to complete :P. Also, maybe double fights you could chose to have an Exp. Modifier e.g. you use 2 Pokemon, one is lvl 100 and the other is lvl 25, when you beat one of your opponents pokemon you could give the lvl 25 25% of the lvl 100's "theoretical gained exp. points". Thus, helping us level up pokemon faster. 5) Double battle in the Elite Four? 6) Less of an idea and more of a reduest this one - Please don't allow the input of fakemon, I'm not an absolute purist, but it takes out a lot of the enjoyment in my believe. Also it means we can keep it right and as it should be. 7) Quest System You mentioned this in your original post. So I'd like to add my idea to it ^_^. How about a fame/renown-imity meter in the game? The more quests you do the more well known you become. (That sounds like an idea I ripped straight out of Fable 2.... oh wait, I did :P. It's a good system, why not? ^_^) But infamity might be addible too? I know that means characters would say many more different things. So it's good and bad. By the way, the Fable 2 system where your appearance changes, maybe you shouldn't add that -_-. I don't really wanna be walking around as some form of devil or angel, for aesthetics sake ^_^. Anyway, when I think of more ideas I'll probably post them or PM you. Also, this post is long enough as it is ^_^. And if anyone other than Chrisp6825 got to this point, then thanks for taking an interst in the post ^_^, and this thread. ^_^ never made such a long post of the like of this or my last one. Forgot to add: Is there going to be a PC based editor for maps/pokemon/items/trainers/script and so on, or is it all goin to be reliant on the PSP capabilities? I think a secure stand-alone editor for the PC may increase interest and popularity for complex maps. But definetley keep the PSP one that you mentioned back in you original post, for those who want to make maps on the go. Also, adding extra maps may create problems in multiplayer, e.g. person A has map X but person B doesn't have map X, so an update feature for the game like I said earlier may be a step in the right direction towards fixing these kinds of possible errors? By the way when I say multiplayer I mean a community map idea, where people join in multi-play quests or multi-play games. Anyway, this should hopefully be the end of the post this time ^_^. Althor, you have written a ton of ideas and requests. I appreciate it very much!
Some of the stuff, I have already decided on though.. I don't want to use any of the original "islands". I haven't come up an island name yet, but I will soon. A hint, there won't be just one island from the beginning. You will basically be able to chose from a few story lines, and then go through them all. I don't want to use any trainer names already used in previous games. The editor will be on PC, possibly a psp map maker also.. not sure yet. I'll post more and answer more later. |

An original storyline is a very good idea and shows your own dedication and high expectations of the project, so thumps up from me there ^_^. So when you say no trainer names I'm gonna take that as new gym leaders, new league and new proffessor etc. Definately going in for the long run Chrisp, I like it ^_^. Anway, thumbs up to you and the best of luck from me. I know I couldn't do something like this and put so much dedication in so Iwish you all the best on your project ^_^. |

hey guys
many of you guys are coming up with great ideas for the game. another thing with the level maker is that have all the original regions in one game. the only thing limiting it is the size of your own memory stick however the maps wouldnt that big anyway right? also i would like to thank you all for supporting chris and the project!! |

Hey no probs Ieuan, I've been hoping on something like this coming along for a long time now anyway ^_^, I shoulda learnt to script... T_T.
About the level marker... is what you are trying to say basically is that each map would be seperately loaded into the memory stick in a form of SAVEDATA? Also, would that make a limit to regions? Or would we be able to make multimaps coded into one save file that has, say 15-20 maps in combination? That way there would be no constant loading of maps, also if it is limited to memory stick size then that means regions could be incredibly large too... this broadens the possibilities of the game a heck of a lot. Now I'm even more encouraged to support this game ^_^. |

So the loader two different types of data:
1) Single map data (limit on X and Y parameters and buildings) 2) Region Map Data (Unlimited maps, X and Y parameters and buildings and actively running scripts.) Something like that I'm guessing. BTW Ieuan you got any ideas you can think of? ^_^ |

Regions will basically be a folder on the mem stick. Everything in the region are different maps... Over world is one map file, one house is one separate map file, one level of a cave is one separate map file...
The maps can be as extensive as you can be. Graphics in maps are interchangeable, as well as people and their own scripting. Im at school so ill give more info later |

yep the folder structure is user friendly like that but dunno how you could make the scripting/events user friendly.
anyway thats not important atm @ chrisp would it be possible for you to give me a little of info on the islands in a pm? thanks oh yea one more thing this for Althor nice sig! |

cmbeke : Think I should? Right now there are Red, Blue, and Green balls..
Althor : Yes, I like the sig. Map files are pretty simple right now, I'd say. The editor will make it TONs more friendly. Should be almost no scripting needed for most of each map. To load a script, you define where on the map there will be a "transport" location. Then tell it what map file to load, where on the map to go to, then load any objects or not load any objects already picked up. Everything else is handled by the engine. It can tell what tiles are collisions, transports, objects or whatever. |

what is the best ball, red green or blue
masterball versoin (i'm not that good at making these, i would like to help in anyway i can because my mspd socket broke and i cant play any hb )also i think that it would be neat if you add some of the original balls maybe if you have a casino you could give those as prizes Last edited by cmbeke; 05-12-2009 at 06:34 AM.. |

cmbeke : That looks pretty cool. Um I might go ahead and use the original balls.. Right now it goes Red, Green, Blue in that order. With Blue the best. I can easily replace them.
doixe : Anyone you want. Boy, girl, adult, kid, old man, old woman.. If you want, you could even make a character sprite and either I or you could insert them into the game. I'm going to restrict some obvious characters like Gym leader NPCs and Professor NPCs, though. Actually, I'll have to insert them into the game, or the server at least... That way you can't go online with a sprite no one has, and you appear invisible. |
