Please don't think that this is real, it will end up nothing happen on 10 OCT 2005.
You know, how long they took to build the www.PCSX2.net, so please don't be fool by him
Well, the PS2 is much more powerful than the PSP and has better graphics so... I beleive it's possible.
Besides, someone already made an emulator, but it only got to the first screen of ridge racer, the menu scnreen (with some 3d) in mercury, and almost full speed puzzle bobble.
Not true, clocked at 333mhz (which makes everything else faster) the PSP is probably more capable than PS2.Quote:

This thread is better off in speculation, so there it goes.
PSP is much more powerful and flexiable the a standard PS2. Don't forget that PSP graphics processor is running at 333MHZ, while PS2 is 299MHZ
Ambitious prject. If a beta does come out in October, I hope it includes the ported Mac version. However, seeing is believing.
Woah, I just looked up the cpu for the ps2, and it was around 300mhz... I see..Quote:

well someone will try it and we'll hear from them.
they are both based on a mips architecture,
The PS2 has the emotion engine with MIPS III Architecture, 128-bit Instruction set and 128-bit Data Paths, with basically a huge FPU that can calculate specific commands for physics data on the fly.
the PSP is a MIPS R4000 with the MIPS II Architecture, 32-bit with an added 64-bit Instruction Set, and a 128-bit Data Path
the ps2 afaik has more RAM.
the ps2 has more room for storage on DVD's
PSP Floating point performance: 2.6gflops
PS2 Floating point performance: 6.2gflops
PSP Polygon Fill rate: 33Million/Sec (t&l)
PS2 Polygon Fill rate: 66Million/Sec (t&l)
ps2 is faster, but psp has a way lower res, which means less work needs to be done, but all in all ps2 is still more powerful
the architecture in the PS2 is actually more flexible, the Emotion Engine has the facility to be reprogrammed to perform a plethora of tasks, the Audio Hardware in the PS2 does Direct Decoding, and i think it is about on par with that of the psp.
PS2 > PSP but the PS2 isnt portable now is it?

Good look on the project... ;)
I would say the specs of the PS2 cant be put to that much use if you consider PSP specs, PSP games look just like current PS2 games and nothing has been released on the PS2 that hasnt looked or played equal to the PSP games currently available and its life span is almost over, thus realy showing that the PS2's extra power isnt realy availble to the programmers.
isnt the ps2 like 294mhz? or something
