Well now I wonder how you will respond to this... I went over to the biggest ipod site and asked them what they think about free apps... and explained to them the the PSP community is more of a sharing community... they all replied negative... explaining they expect something from the hard work they put into apps they make for ipod (Jailbroken apps that is) and was wondering how devs feel about this... you all put in hard work for your homebrew games and apps even if they are lua.
I am proposing that qj start an app store. it is the biggest psp site and I believe it would be great for qj and developers, the iphone apps store has so many apps and is so popular and apple gets 32% of the profit.. how does that sound qj staff? we would set it up by having an official devkit built by the same or of a different dev of the original, devolopers interested in creating apps would create their game and submit it to qj for review (not on the forums) and to protect their apps we could use sonys signed eboots as a way of helping... however I dont know if or how it would work, but im guessing its possible.
We would then simply need a way for users to easily download these apps and have an easy way to pay and have affordable prices. and of course a free section fo devs that like to simply creat for others to enjoy. Now I realize the psp scene has always been free and may even be impossible to do such a thing but with an idea with this we would see:
More quality apps / games
Qj could profit from it.
More people would join the site and register.
We could stop the stealing of applications and code.
Devs can have a chance to show the community what they can do.
However there are cons to this of course:
possibilty of piracy with homebrew.
people disliking to pay for homebrew.
scam apps and games.
super noobitory bs.
Good idea or not? you decide.
