Sony CAN'T win.....Can they?
This is the way I see it. If we can hack 2.00 to change the firmware # only, and then use the 1.50 upgrade to downgrade, then I bet whatever they have planned for 2.## it will still be hacked, one way or another. Even if they patch the hole in the photo buffer overflow, it would still take people time to find another exploit in their system. Whenever that exploit is discovered
Also, even if they do release a new, unhackable firmware version, what's to convince us to upgrade to 2.## if we love playing homebrew, and 2.00, since we already have a downgarder for 2.00? They really can't make us upgrade to their new firmware, unless they add more BS into their firmware that's not included in the older FW that people would actually enjoy using better than homebrew. We can also use the firmware changer for 1.50 systems to make it think it's 2.## or even 9.00 so we would still have 1.50 FW, but it would think we would have 9.00. XD
I would understand why Sony would want to stop piracy, but if people like you who make homebrew games/apps for the PSP want to become real developers, it seems like Sony is trying to prevent this from happening. That would be like you trying to get a job at a store or something, and the manager would kick you out just for trying.
Whatever Sony is trying to do to us, I am sure we can always find a way around their software. As I have heard, there is no such thing as unhackable software. The only excpetion to this is unhackable hardware, which Microsoft stated that their X-Box 360 will be unhackable. Unless Sony comes up with an unhackable software, well that would mean both companies would have found a way to stop homebrew from being made for all future systems.
