We must be close to something why else would Sony release a new firmware next week?
Who said they are?
It's on the main page of pspupdates.qj.netZitat:

Idk, but it's on the front page...
Edit:
jen_1982 was quicker than me...
This article mentions it..Zitat:

Here
I saw that now thanks.
I do the same sometimes, come straight to the forums and don't check the main page. You know a 2.71 hombrewer could be made and I would only know about it 2 days afterwards.
Hey everybody, I've been reading these forums for some time now and just haven't bothered to sign up because theres nothing i can really contribute to :PC: ...but i agree with jen_1982 said:
I could start a new topic and do something kinda like this....I could search through what you guys have done or found so far and make a list of failed and whats in the works....You guys could keep posting and I'll keep the page updated...How does that sound to you guys?Zitat:

just think what if they put out new firmwares as fast as they do Xvid4psp updatesZitat:

that would be awesomeZitat:

i also agree. i dont want to read 117 pages or more.
So we should probably have at least one of us update to test things on the new firmware. I might do it.
 TO really! what a sacrificeZitat:

I'll start working on the (2.71 Possible Exploit Checklist) trmw!! that good with everybody? we should setup some rules for this thread...eg.post only updates or new speculationto add to the thread....NO FLAMING :flame:
I dont know much, but I know that LocoRoco and updates can be loaded from the game menu. because they have the sony securtiy key, well can't someone, just copy the securiity files from and update or Locoroco eboot, into a homebrew eboot, it could be the... umm... welll....tranxploit??? wutever, tell me if that might work please
That's fine, thanks for helping out.
TO I am still working on the board, I just need some new capacitros.
So, is it possible? I came up with this idea a looong time ago, for the 2.60 fw originally, finally someone that will listen and not call me a n00b... what do u guys think of the idea, will it also work for 2.60 as i first intended?
Is what possible?
There isnt a security file in an EBOOT to copy. Its a type of encrytion Sony uses. I dont know exactly what they use, but we cant sign an EBOOT or part of an EBOOT like they can. Good try though.Zitat:

oh thanks, *sigh* good luck though! I hope you will be successful, I mean, you could be on the front page, as a breakthrough dev if you unlock homebrew from the game menu on 2.xx, right?
I dont think thats what the guys in this thread are shooting for. I havent looked here in a while. WHat happened to the libpng and zlib stuff?Zitat:
Zitat von sniperfromhell
I feel like everyone forgot about that. cuz there isnt much buzz about it anymore.
PSP does not support the zlib function that is exploitable.
The thing i posted was about libpng...nothing with that too?Zitat:
Zitat von TeamOverload
If the zilb doesn't work the libpng has little chance.
Either way I'm not updating cuz eventually there might be something.
well if there really is an update, wasnt rss video supposed to come out later, i think this is just an excuse for sony to patch up some flaws in there firmware, and lure unsuspecting nublets to update.
Hmm i hope we do find an expolit in the 2.71 update soon because i dont want too update am only going to update if theres an exploit on that.
RSS Video release is on schedule(summer). I think I will have to update to test stuff even though, I will likely have to kiss homebrew goodbye for even longer now though.
Maybe the RSS Video will hold the key to an exploit.
Well I'm not updating so I wouldnt be able to help much with the new firmware.:(
What is the serial cable supposed to do??? and hows that coming along??
The serial cable was thought to be the key to flashing the firmware. Currently however, we are having second thoughts about that.
The cable is a serial-usb cable. Once made, TO was going to use some computer app to try and find out a way to exploit it. After that, we were going to try and make a PSP flashing app for the computer.
My personal opinion is that it is a waste of time. Why would someone go out and buy all the materials, make the cable, risk frying their psp, and then flash it, when they could just buy the modchip (I know that was a run-on sentence)?
Is anyone actually going to upgrade to 2.8?
Or is everyone going to wait for the current fw (2.7X) to be cracked?
I'm going to wait. I upgraded to 2.7 for flash and because I didn't own GTA (and didn't think I would be able to get it). Since it looks like the next exploit will have to do with stuff already on the psp, and not a game, I think I'll wait. Anyway, if they find an exploit in 2.8, I could always upgrade.
I'm waiting till 3.10 lol then if theres no exploit for 2.71 I'll upgrade to 3.10
I guess thats a chance that TO might have to take...if he decides its worth a shotZitat:

I would.
Damn straight I would.
I wonder since theres is now a new firmware could that also mean that there is an exploit in 2.71?

No they are just following their ''firmware schedule''.
Have you not seen the chart?
