We are never going to get any work done on this, if we all keep fighting...and if I dont get a cable ;)
Im 12, 13 in august.Zitat:

I'm not so sure that the modded firmware is real. From what I understand, .prx files MUST be encrypted to be run. That's why we don't have custom firmwares yet. But, even (in theory) if all you have on your PSP is a single .prx file that is not encrypted, the system won't run it. So if that theory is true, the encryption checks must be comewhere else in the hardware. If THAT is true, then even the modchip can't have custom firmware.Zitat:

Also, something some people need to understand is that the UP chip isn't just an extra flash module. It has hardware built in that allows the chip to write to it's own flash in chunks. Sorta like a mini RAM set.
no lots is tru!
wats this e-distrib thing i read about ps2dev.org, anything to do with the minigame folder maybe?
I don't think a former sony employee, Would have access to a custom firmware PSP anymore by the way. :)Zitat:

It's going to get closed anyway. I have a feeling :)Zitat:
Please stay on topic. I'd hate for this to get closed.
I sooo had to sig madmattys argument with iball. Shut him up anyway...

Kik IT!
This thread is going to be locked i bet. Nice going everyone.
Ah, but if what he is saying is true, he already has the custom firmware, and would still have friends there that could send him some stuff.Zitat:
Zitat von DeMoN X
Anywho, this thread isn't supposed to be about custom firmware :Argh:
Ok, I really don't want this locked. Everyone, DROP IT, RIGHT NOW! Ok, whether or not madmatty is/was a Sony employee doesn't matter. If he gives us information with HARD evidence, then we'll believe it. The rest of us have to provide proof, so he should too. Now, does anyone have a SOCOM headset? I need to know something.
I'm going for awhile before I say somethign I shouldn't
Be back so... lol @ FLai
Actually, I have flash-programmed Actelis modems on a Linux box using VMWare running a virtualized Windows XP Pro session.Zitat:

Right through the serial port.
Worked like a charm.
LOLZitat:
Zitat von Glynnder- PSPro
He now has a website...
Does anyone want to keep this topic going, or do you all wanna fight!!!
yea, everyone be good now, INCLUDING YOU GLYNNDER!
I could really use someone with the SOCOM headset....
I've got a SOCOM headset and a homemade headset.Zitat:
Zitat von cooldocy795
Homemade is better since it allows me to use ANY regular non-USB PC headset.
Right, okay, so can you please help us keep on topic with your expertise in the field of flashing through the serial, or flashing by any other means?Zitat:
Zitat von iball®
VMWare is pretty sw33t. My dad has a VMWare PC sitting beside his normal Windows Media Center one.Zitat:
Zitat von iball®
Ok cool. Now, does it plug "directly" into the serial port, or is there some sort of chip that the headset goes through first (like the remote has a chip)?Zitat:
Zitat von iball®
I'm just going to start banning people for continuing to go off on deliberate flames and off topic posts here.
Consider this the last warning.
PS - iball's guide to the homemade SOCOM headset is good if you can find the link.
Im a KID. LOL!!!Zitat:
Zitat von marv101
You can use only the headphones but to use the microphone, you need some sort of adapter I think...Zitat:
Zitat von cooldocy795
Could you give us the link???Zitat:
Zitat von Abe_Froeman
im a kid
hi abe! no problem. no more arguments from me anyway :DZitat:
Zitat von Abe_Froeman
You need the Remote from sony to get the mic to work in SOCOM
There's no chip in the Sony headphones at all.Zitat:
Zitat von cooldocy795
It's just a regular 3.5mm plug with 4 connectors (GND, LFT, RGT, MIC).
Somewhere there's that how-to thread I posted on it...and there are already a couple of folks out there who have dissected the actual remote itself to find that there's nothing really there we can use in this case.
The reason I'm asking about the SOCOM headset is because the Sony Remote communicates initially with the PSP before any buttons are pressed. It sends four bytes to it, which are probably unique because it is idetifying itself as the remote. Link.
So what I'm thinking is maybe the theoried "flasher" sends it's own four bytes.
