Flasher For PSP

That's why MJY and I decided that they don't do the entire flash over the serial connect. We assumed that they load some code into the RAM allowing for a USB connection to do the actual flashing.

Slow connections like that are mostly for small communications, like configuring settings for a router or sending short commands (like the single bytes that the remote sends).

Besides, USB is MUCH more reliable than serial IMO.

Well, if this actually ends up working, I'm sure some company will pick it up and make the cable and flashing utility for it. Just like mod chips.

I still Say that its Cooperative movements by the Serial and USB.

Serial Allows access to the NAND (Ping Data?), USB Dumps Data (Not Eboot, PRX/Drivers), PSP = Fixed...IMHO

It Makes Sense If you think about it...

Actually, I tried it with the DEMO, Socom, and a bunch of games...Every game did it :\...

I'd Make a Movie of it, but My PSP Just got shipped out to PA for Repairs (UMD Drive Failure :\)

How though? No one elses PSP does it.

Hmmmm, It was more towards Launch when I found this and Haven't really thought much of it since...I think It might have been an actual Button combo like press Select, then Square, then Triangle, then circle Consecuatively...Or pressing one of those repetitively. I'm sorry if my Memory is failing me. I'm sure its the Consecutive thing or Pressing Triangle or Square Repetitively

What did you do on what firmware?

Just tried pounds square on firmware v2.71 when i hit "yes" to go back to home menu. Then tried triangle, didnt get anything (this was with Star wars battlefront 2 btw)

Alright, I found my notes on this.

SECRET MENU GLITCH:

As you are Returning to the PSP XMB Menu From a UMD/MEMORY STICK Game, Repetitively Tap the X button AFTER you select "YES" on the Return to Home Screen. This will Bring up the Movie Options (??Wtf??).

Upon Respective D-pad presses, Secret menus can be found up from the Network Menu to the Music Menu.

I dont remember the Service Menu ever Accesing a secret menu.

This leads to no where. I found that out while I was playing with the no-kxploit. Anyways, how the hell would you flash a bricked psp with a "debug" menu in the xmb? Good luck on that one!

Edit: Whoa- I was just watching the video and found something new. For a split second, the memory stick flashes as "0 kb" for it's capacity remaining, then switches back to my actual remaining space. Perhaps the PSP is looking for an external source? On the serial port, perhaps?

The hopes are that it will allow us to put the PSP in a "service mode" of sorts in which it would execute commands from various ports.

Think of it this way, If the Firmware is intact for a while, but one of the PRX file Becomes Corrupted, lets say....UMDMAN.PRX or USB.PRX, There could be a Service Menu that allows us to just Reinstall or Reaccess it in a backup file, instead of haveing to Reflash the PSP in a time comsuming manner (IF its reflashed Byte by Byte)...

Sort of something like a system restore that goes deeper than that "Restore Defaults" Option, you see?

omg! Seriously man, it will lead NOWHERE! It's just a little glitch in firmware. Sony flashes BRICKED psp's, not working ones. I don't think they would be stupid enough to put in a service mode, or else we would have seen it in a dump.

If a file in your fimrware goes corrupt, then the whole firmware should stop working. And why the hell would a file in the firmware go corrupt? sony wouldn't build self corrupting files like that.

Yeah, I'm afraid that that's all that it might be. But I think it's a start.

We need more support on this project.

Surely Madmatty knows a buddy inside of Sony that can tell us about debug/service menus.

If he really did work for Sony (I for one think that he did), he can provide us with key information from friends of his.

He supposingly took a psp from the office when he left, and his friend found out, and is mad, so he wont help us.
