[I like breaking the rules, so my sig is gone!]
Here's my additions to the 'cause'. Anyone have any case skin sites worth mentioning?
If these seem large, it's because I created them at 150 DPI, they are standard printing size. I would normally work with 300dpi, which is better for printing, but I needed to keep the file size limited.

I found a place that you can get a FREE (just pay the shipping) 16"x20" picture developed. http://www.cranium.com/club/shutterfly.asp
Just created a blank 16x20" picture in your favorite art program, drag in your fav skins, save and upload. Cost me $5.99 Canadian for shipping.
$6 for a bunch of photo quality inserts works for me. :)
I finally bought myself the Playgear yesterday.
Now I have one question:...
How do you accomodate for the backside handle impressions? I'm a little conerned how the skin would likely crease from the handle bumps pressing in.
Any thoughts? What have you experienced with your back/bottom skin?
It really doesnt effect it at all suprisingly, still looking good. Im gonna get my brother a playgear for his new psp for christmas.
Well, I had my first 4 skins printed today. I cheated and went to WalMart.
I chose Optimus Prime, GIR & Piggy, Settlers of Catan and X-Com.
After many switches back and forth, I ended up deciding on the Settlers of Catan one for the bottom. The Optimus Prime looked the best as the front/top insert.
The prime's striped look and the bumps on the bottom of the PGP case inspired me to try something new:
Create a skin of a car. Have a slightly distorted look not unlike those stock car candy tins that are on store shelves right now. I figured the bottom would actually show the bottom of the car. Now the first few (or four actually) cars that come to mind are these: Original Dodge Viper GTS (Black), Knight Rider's KITT, Back to the Future's DeLorean and last but not least, my beast, a Black 1985 Mercury Cougar.
Anyone know where to find Bird's/Ant's eye views of cars? Perhaps someone has already made comparable vehicle skins for Half-Life, Quake or another FPS/3-D game. Know of any?
Back to the WalMart ordeal:
It was a pain to figure out how to do it on 5x7s without making duplicates (2 of SAME pic per full page) as their DIY machines are very counter-intuitive. In the end I went for the 1-Hour service becuase those semi-DIY machines were set up better. It ended up only taking 20 minutes because there were no orders ahead of me (though she did have a large panel open and was replacing some sort of fixer fluid).
The only flaw is that the template I used (as provided here) was 72 dpi, which isn't very high quality for printing this size. Even the Wal-Mart machine said so. Though it was good enough for my purposes. I'll just have to ramp it up a little for next time.
Also, I did find that I needed to trim more than the border off to get it to fit. However this may be due to scaling issues and not the fault of the template (for which I am ever grateful for).

Some nice work in here.
I have a request if that's ok, if someone wanted to have a play,
I would like plain looking aluminium checkerplate with and without
the hole in the bottom, because I would like to have the hole,
but not sure I can cut it out of the paper neatly.
do you mean diamond plate? be more specific
Computer games don't affect kids, I mean if pac man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music
Maintain thy airspeed, lest the ground rise up and smite thee.
I've only heard it called checkerplate or treadplate, but that sounds right.
I found this on Google, but don't know if it can be tiled.
I had to give it a go myself.
I know it puts all you guys to shame, but I hope you keep at it

Aluminum Running board is probably what he meant.
Edit: Oops didn't refresh. It's rather obvious now.

Thought that I should give it a try.
How did fare as a beginner ?
Nice choices. I particularly liked the first armored core and the second Damacy.
Yeah the Armored Core one i really nice. And like DrNicket said: the second damacy one is nice.
Gawwd... I never even realized the nubile girly factor... duh. I've been married too long. I liked it because of the art style... aw man <checks inside pants> yep still got them [phew].
Thanks for the comments. how about this next armoured core skin?
