The Ultimate Theme Tools Guide

I made two categories. One with tools that run on the psp, and the other one for tools that run on PC (windows only).

Tools For PSP

Resurssiklunssi 0.3Download

-Description:
--This is a tool that decompresses/compresses the RCOs.

-How to use it:
--Get DECRYPTED and UNCOMPRESSED SYSMEM.PRX from 2.70 or newer firmware and place it into the RCO folder.
Use psardumper/PRX decrypter to obtain that file.
Place some RCO files from any firmware version to the RCO folder.
Get recompiled files out from the RCO/done folder afterwards.

-What do you need for this:
-- Use it under the 1.50 kernel/leda 0.2 in 3.XX 4.XX 5.XX kernels.

PRX decrypter v2.1Download

-Description:
--This is a tool that decompresses the PRXs.

-How to use it:
--Make an enc folder in the memory stick root.
Put the PRXs in the enc folder and run the app from the psp.

-What do you need for this:
--Use it in 3.XX, 4.XX, and 5.XX kernels (it doesn't work with FW under the 2.71).

PSARDumper 5.50Download

-Description:
--This is a tool that dumps the files from the FWs. It also decrypt the PRXs.

-How to use it:
--Place the FW EBOOT named EBOOT.PBP in the root of the memory stick and run the app.

-What do you need for this:
--It runs in 3.XX 4.XX AND 5.XX kernels.

Recovery & vshmenu color changerDownload

-Description:
--This is a tool that changes the color of the vsh menu and recovery menu.

-How to use it:
--Start it and change the colors.

-What do you need for this:
--You need 3.93,3.95,4.01 or 5.00.

RCO PatcherDownload

-Description:
--It is a plugin that loads RCO files from the memory stick.

-How to use it:
--Make a folder called RCOS and put them inside.

-What do you need for this:
--To run this, you need 5.00 m33.

Descramble PatcherDownload

-Description:
--This plugin allows you to patch modules on-the-fly with the scrambles from the memory stick.

-How to use it:
--To use this is easy. All you have to do is get a scramble for the VSH Module Descrambler and put it in the ms0:/scrambles/ folder named the same as the module which it came from (vshmain scramble becomes vshmain.bin) with a .bin extension.

-What do you need for this:
--This runs on 5.00 m33 only.

VSH Menu Color ChangerDownload

-Description:
--This simple plugin made it possible to change the VSH menu color without touching flash0.

-How to use it:
--Open the vshmenucolorchanger.txt file in the seplugins folder and change the color.

-What do you need for this:
--It runs on CFW 5.00 M33-6 or the newest Custom Firmware Enabler.

Tools For PC

Anger's PSP Font ConverterDownload

-Description:
--This is an app that converts ttf fonts to psp font (.pgf).

-How to use it:
--Open the app, set the location of your font, set the options that you want, and make it.

-What do you need for this:
--Windows.

Bmp Tools V1Download

-Description:
--This app is a tool that help you to split and make 01-12 and 13-27 bmps without hex edit.

-How to use it:
--Start the app, and select the option you want.

-What do you need for this:
--Windows.

Boot sound replacer v5.ADownload

-Description:
--This is an app that changes the boot sound of the psp.

-How to use it:
--Open the app, find the opening_plugin.prx that you want to edit, select the sound you want, and save it. PRXs must be decrypted.

-What do you need for this:
--Windows and 3.52, 3.71, 3.80, 3.90, 3.95, 4.01, 5.00, or 5.50 decrypted opening_plugin.prx.

CTF Manager V5.00Download

-Description:
--With this program, you can create CTF theme files directly on your PC, without the need of a PSP!
You can also extract files from a CTF file, and install CTF themes in your PSP!

-How to use it:
--Start the app, set the vsh, font, and the PTF theme location ,and make your new CTF.

-What do you need for this:
--Windows and .NET Framework 3.5.

Coldboot text replacer v2Download

-Description:
--With this program, you can change the coldboot text.

-How to use it:
--See this tutorial.

-What do you need for this:
--Windows and .NET Framework 3.5.

Dynamic EditorDownload

-Description:
--With this app, you can edit PRXs by ease.

-How to use it:
--Open the app, find the PRX you want to edit, and start editing it.

-What do you need for this:
--Windows and .NET Framework 3.5.

Gboot Extract V1.5Download

-Description:
--With this app, you can extract a video from a gameboot file.

-How to use it:
--Open the app, find the video you want, and drag and drop it in the app.

-What do you need for this:
--Windows and .NET Framework 3.5.

MFAudioDownload

-Description:
--With this app you can extract vag files.

-How to use it:
--Open the app, find the audio file you want, and save it as .vag file.

-What do you need for this:
--Windows.

Psp wallmakerDownload

-Description:
--With this app you can create 01-12 and 13-27 bmps.

P-ZIPDownload

-Description:
--With this app, you can convert PRXs.

RCO Editor v1.15cDownload

-Description:
--With this app, you can ustomize decompressed RCO files.

-How to use it:
--Open the app, select the decompresed rco you want, and start to customize it.

-What do you need for this:
--Windows.

Rcomage v1.0.1Download

-Description:
--Rcomage is a general RCO manipulation/creation tool, which I hope, will replace RCO Editor (and potentially rcotool in the future).
It's a CLI (command-line interface) however I've provided a simple Windows GUI to save you from remembering commands (though you may need to trawl through an XML file).

It currently only has two main functions - "dump" (dumps contents of an RCO) and "compile" (compiles an RCO from a dump).
For modifying an RCO, you would dump it, modify the dump, then compile it.
A dump will consist of an XML file, which contains all the metadata of the RCO (basically, it's structure) as well as various resources, such as images, sounds etc.

-How to use it:
--Well, as mentioned above, basically dump and compile is the only thing you can do.
As for information on the XML structure, I don't really have the time to write a good guide, so I guess you'll probably just dump various RCOs to get an idea of how it works. (I'd be willing to assist if someone would write a guide for me :P)
A quick idea of the structure is shown in the readme.

!! I strongly suggest that you don't use Notepad to edit the XML files. Suggested applications include Notepad++ and Notepad2 (or your favourite text editor; most should overcome the deficiencies of Notepad).

Recovery editor v4Download

-Description:
--With this app, you can change the color of the vshmenu and the recovery menu.

-How to use it:
--Open the app, select the firmware you want, and start to customize your recovery.

Vshmain editorDownload

-Description:
--With this app, you can change the color of the font in xmb and much more.

-How to use it:
--Open the app, find the PRX that you want to edit, and start the editing.

-What do you need for this:
--Windows and .NET Framework 3.5.

Wave Injector V1.0Download

-Description:
--With this app, you can change the wave in the xmb.

-How to use it:
--Open the app, find the RCO that you want to edit, and start the editing.

-What do you need for this:
--Windows and .NET Framework 3.5.

Xmb Multi CustomizerDownload

-Description:
--With this app you can move, hide, and unhide the xmb icons. It has much more options.

-How to use it:
--Extract it in a folder. Then put in the folder this files:
paf.prx
vshmain.prx
system_plugin_fg.rco
topmenu_icon.rco
topmenu_plugin.rco
The files must be decrypted(PRXs) and decompressed(RCOs).

-What do you need for this:
--Windows.
