yea that metal screen holder needs that support!

btw, has anyone verified that this works because i see no way that a screw on the right side of the psp can make the left side of the umd door close better...

On the other hand, my friend has a 1003-UK PSP. It has allot of dead/stuck pixels. The umd drives never close properly on it. The analouge stick/nub is touching the PSP and it scratches it when you use it, also its harder to move it seen as its scraping along the PSP. The L/R buttons and some other buttons seem to be very easily moved (you can push and pull them all over the place, seems like they are not firmly in place).

I have had a look at my other friends USA 1001 PSP and its like my JAP psp exept for the dead pixels and the buttons.

Seems like the newest PSP's are the worst type to get. I first bought my PSP in a shop, it didnt read UMD's though, so they replaced it and my raplacement turned out to be bricked haha, so i bought this one on ebay hehe.
Its a wild theory but could it be because UK/Europe/Australasia models were rushed in production because of the long wait and huge demand?

@ djzander

Can you post a pic of the newly perfectly closed UMD drive please

I have a UK model 1003 and the analog stick is a little bit raised from the PSP as well and also not one dead pixel yet.

It came with 1.5x firmware so it could of been restamped as a uk version as they were very hard to get hold of at the time

It doesn't really bother me, but I imagine everyone wants a "perfect" machine.
