Is there anyway you can get custom color tables to work with topmenu generator. I have some decent icons made up, but it seems like TopMenu Generator doesn't like the color table. Switching to the Windows color table tends to destroy any and all color in my icons. Anyway, here is a link to my icons if you want to try and help me to get them work. All I can say is that I think I tried everything. @[email protected]

Have you tried setting the diffusion to 100%?
The icons in my guide were made using the Windows palette set to 100% diffusion
I've been using JASC Paint Shop Pro 9 and I have no idea where I could access the error diffusion option.Zitat:

that is AWESOME was wondering how to do this! doing it now :D
will it work on 3.03 OE-A'
Yeah it works with 3.03 OE-A. It's rewarding when it works. If you're an idiot like me it's a pain.
As in you bricked your PSP with it?Zitat:

he cant get it to work
Factory Icons provided by zmathue
Spoiler for Preview:
All of them are nice (except the RSS settings :p)
So if a good amount of people wants me to update the package with this modiifcations, then I will...
Nah, haven't bricked yet. Just can't get it to work right due to pallet restrictions and the fact that I am using Paint Shop Pro 9. Unless I feel like having some mutated looking icons.
I'm trying to make my icons into a topmenu_plugin.rco, but I can't. I followed EVERYTHING in the guide, and I keep getting the original KGSWS icons. I'm on 3.03 OE-B, and I used the 2.50 icon maker (since the guide says it is for custom firmware, too). HELP! PLEASE!!!
I finally made my icons!
Okay... All icons are 64x64 with a color depth of 8bits. Color table is windows and a used dither of 100%. I made the transparency pure green to avoid losing any black pigment. Everything looks good but Topmenu GUI keeps saying to check the size and color depth.
heres my icons. hope you like them. there are white lines on the left and right borders but that prevents them from being cut off:) tell me what you think.

The factory icons are ok... still black pixels around them.
that happened to me too. this is gonna sound weird but it works. you gotta cut and paste it somewhere 2 or 3 times then try to flash it. im guessing (probably wrong) but i think it is because there is such a small change to the file that it doesnt change when you save it..........ok now that i said all that it sounds ridiculous.........it works though..........Zitat:

So you guys think that there will be a release of a topmenu program that will not be so pallet sensitive?
Sorry about the double post, Firefox went insane for the first time ever.

I bet it's a palette issue, those icons used less than 256 colors and The GIMP (as well as Photoshop) generates a palette accordingly (eg. no unused colors, optimised-to-the-max palette).
Btw, I'm not running MSWindows, and do not want to bother loading MSPaint in Wine even if it runs fine.
sorry i posted that right after i took 2 sleeping pills. i wasnt in my right mind........Zitat:

OK I just update the icon packages.
zmathue has restored some of the submenu icons with the original images and fixed up the icon labels.
Check out my guide. Its in the signature.
Also included an individual package for Linux users as well.
It includes some bash scripts to automate the process of topmenu_plugin.rco creation.
It does require the installation of Wine though.
The English version of the XMB icon maker includes the original submenu icons. I don't exactly know how to compile it with the topmenu along with the menu icons, though. You can download the BMP's below.
Download: [Original Submenu Icons]
ok, I've finally got windows on my mac and would like to give this a shot, but I would prefer to do it with my rco's (keepin it legal :)). I get how to get a decrypted 2.50 topmenu_plugin.rco and how to add the icons, but can anybody tell me how the "fixed" 2.50 rco was made to have 3.00 icons?
So does anyone know how to compile those sub menu icons to the rco yet>?
are you using uberone's topmenu generator to make 3.03 compatible rco's?
Ok, I am new to making custom icons, someone was nice enough to help me make the bmp images for the rco compiler. Each image is 64x64, 256 color mode, bmp, and 5.05kb in size.
When I run the cmd file (start) it says that the rco file is missing from the Files directory.
The thing is I never needed an rco file there before. So I did a few tests.
I replaced my custom icons with ones I found on these forums and clicked start. Success it worked!
I then replaced those icons with mine, when it replaced them it asked if I wanted to overwrite, at which point I compared to file sizes. All identical. I click start, same error as before (rco cannot be found in the files directory).
I am at a complete loss of what to do. Can someone PLEASE IM me at mongus12 or MSN me at [email protected]
Thank you.
its usually the color palette.
If you have the correct size, bit depth, and file size then its the color palette thats messing up the converter.
But since you didn't make it yourself, its going to be difficult to fix it/explain to you how to fix it.
can somebody tell me wat to use to get a decrypted 3.03 topmenu_plugin.rco ?? i am running 3.03 OE-B and wanted to change some menu labels only, i din wanna change icons so how would i do it?
You don't.Zitat:
Zitat von xmOD
Encryption also applies to the XMB labels
So you're still stuck with the 2.50 topmenu
Yes, I amZitat:

I did make them myself with someone telling me the steps and settings in photoshop. Could you please sign on AIM Anubis and msg me at mongus12 so that I can learn how to fix them?Zitat:
Zitat von |-Anubis-|
 Exactly. you didn't make it yourself.Zitat:
Zitat von LegolasFett
Its pretty simple...
First open up your BMP in photoshop.
Set the Image--> mode back to RGB
Then set the Image --> mode to Indexed again.
In the pop up dialog box choose the Windows palette from drop down box.
Set the diffusion to 100% to get smoother colors.
Then click OK.
The first color transparency will be set to black again so readjust the first color transparency if you need to.
Then it should convert correctly.

I did those steps, the pictures were SLIGHTLY fuzzy/pixelated (which I am pretty sure is normal). I then tried to use the run cmd and it again said it cannot locate the rco.....
Any other advice?
