Hey,
can someone make me a FW2.5 topmenu_plugin.rco with original Icons and fixed subicons?
(I need them for Menu Names Editor in next Customizer version)
ok....I made it on my own

I downloaded the win verisno of the pack.... I have the 1-6 bmps... now how do I tell it to change the sub menus? any help would greatly be appreciated
:)
alright i quit ive done everything to make it work but still no luck. i even tryed making the image slitly more smaller and still. im not a noob here im a certified photoshop user, just have SOMETHING wrong.
I've got problems with the German language (not me, but the PSP :o ). It's similar to this problem: http://forums.qj.net/showpost.php?p=...&postcount=354
Is there already a fix? I can't find it
I've used the "Windows Icon Maker" from the first post and the Icons by Matt13. Firmware is 3.02 OE-B.
can u use this with ta-082 psp with 3.03 oe-b???
once youre on 3.03 oe-b you should be alright.:tup:Zitat:

i have a 3.03 oe-b psp with a custom menu with the iconfix mod but i need a way to get rid of the glow on all the icons is this do able?
Just replace the icons 1-6 there with you icons, and then run the app, it will generate a topmenu_plugin with all the new submenu icons included.Zitat:

Now that we've figured out the format for the topmenu icons,
Is anyone working on the start-up "Sony Computer Entertainment"
image?
I believe this is not text as this cannot be found anywhere.
I think it is in the same 8bpp format as the icons, and probably
um maybe in opening_plugin.rco?
I tried opening this file with several 8bpp tile editors.
(Tile editors made for old console rom hacking)
I assume this is how the top menu icons were found, tho
I couldn't even find anything resembling any topmenu icons in
the top_menu_plugin.rco using this method.
I would assume that kqsws would be able to find it now, or
should atleast look, as only he knows how he found the icons
in the firstplace (software used etc.)
Hope this gets worked on, I'd really like my name there instead
of "Sony Computer Entertainment"

EDIT: SH!TE!
I just spent 20 minutes explaining more work I did on trying to find this.
and it said I was not logged in and lost my edit. So.
Here is the technical version for the HaX0rz.
I made a system.dat, found the header to be 789CED97, and found
6 instances of 789CED97 in topmenu_plugin.rco. I then searched for
this same header in Opening_plugin.rco and found 0 instances.
I believe the topmenu_plugin everyone is editing is decrypted?
My opening_plugin.rco is probably still encrypted, so if someone's board
and mine is encrypted or something, I would suggest someone do a hex
search for 789CED97 in a decrypted copy of opening_plugin.rco.
This will hopefully have a similarly arranged "Sony Computer Entertainment"
image. (One you see on boot.)
Please try this if this makes sense as I am very low on time lately,
and did this to entertain myself with the last free time I'll have for a few weeks.

Shouldnt you know whether yours topmenu_plugin and opening_plugin is decrypted or not? when you use the app to dump the files, it should have told ya.Zitat:

lol yeah I know that, but what I would like to do is change my sub menu icons to like how this guy did it:
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/1199/363418914fz.jpg
i foudn something that goes like this:
1.bmp - Settings
1a.bmp - Network Update
1b.bmp - USB Connection
1c.bmp - Video Settings
1d.bmp - Photo Settings
1e.bmp - System Settings
1f.bmp - Theme Settings
1g.bmp - Date & Time Settings
1h.bmp - Power Save Settings
1i.bmp - Sound Settings
1j.bmp - Security Settings
1k.bmp - RSS Channel Settings
1l.bmp - Network Settings
2.bmp - Photo
2a.bmp - Camera
2b.bmp - Memory Stick
2ba.bmp - Folder Icons
3.bmp - Music
4.bmp - Video
5.bmp - Game
6.bmp - Network
but when I added a 2a and a 2b along with my 6 primary bmps, it didn't change the 2a and 2b icons.... it only change the 1-6.... any ideas?
Where is this multiple program then?Zitat:
Zitat von KiLL CraZy
Its not there.
I checked the cmd/bat files and there is no mention of any of the additional icons.
I have no idea how these people are doing this.

this mod is made my me. i found another 6 new icons on ftr.dat, just convert the bmps by bmp2mig, icon-coder, then replace the 6 icons in ftr.dat.

take a look at ftr.dat by hex, you will find it
Can you maybe say where on wich hexstring you find camera icon and other. When i search with hex for camera or rss there is nothing find. So maybe you can make a little tutroial. Thnx in advance
Wow, that looks cool.
1. use any hex editor, open the ftr.dat. search for 789ced,
2. there are totally 5 will be found. each one is one icon.
3. each one will end by padding "FF"s, ignore those "FF", save as a new file. let say camera.dat (in my case, camera icon will be from offset 000-051c).
4. use the icon-coder to recompress the saved file:
icon-coder -d < cerama.dat > camera.mig
5. convert back to bmp then u can see the icon:
mig2bmp camera.mig camera.bmp
6. if u want to replace the icon, reverse steps 5-4, then copy the new icon data back to the camera icon offsets..

i can not find other icons from footer.dat (ftr.dat), might be somebody know :Argh:
ok this is going to sound realy noob where is ftr.dat
from the first page, the xicon convert kit. in data\302Zitat:

This might sound like a really really noob question (and it probably is) but I'm new to this hex editing stuff and I'd really like to know how the hell you can get pictures out of that random gibberish I'm seeing on my screen. The most hex editing I've done is editing the names of errors and menu items in 1.50 decrypted firmware.
Dude i have find evrything execpt one thing, how you can convert the MIG to DAT files. When i type icon-coder -d < cerama.mig > camera.dat it always give me the same error. And yes im sure my mig file is OK. Please help me out. grtzzZitat:

i only have zac.dat and kon.datZitat:

Nevermind it works now. Thnx
should it be possible to change all icons?
seems when i try to replace the online manual icon with my own design, it breaks it. the rss, camera, and rss settings seem to show up, but all other icons are invisible.
edit: my custom icon shows up, but i assume all icons there after dont show up. maybe because offsets might have changed? maybe the files arent the same size?
edit2: yeah im dumb. nevermind. new icon is bigger than the original ? icon. will make changes, should be ok.
edit3: got it to change, thanks!

should be.Zitat:

but dont know how to figure out all rest of icons' location. maybe someone knows.
^^
So we have the location for 6 icons...
And the rest are still unknown
ok i found the rss icon at 0000182c(78DA)-0002178(0000)
Since everyone seems to be going at this in a kind of hack-and-slash method, here's some info that might help people out.
First and foremost, the size of the icons for the sub-icons are NOT the same as the main icons, they are smaller (44x44), than the main icons (61x61, no that is not a typo, unlike the original author, a friend and I have actually figured out the "mig" format enough to figure out where the size of the icon is encoded and have found that the main icons are 61x61 rastered up to 64x64).
Second, there is a seemingly cryptic list towards the top of topmenu_plugin.rco just before the pictures start that when you consider only the part of it that lists the icon "names", actually provides the exact order of the icons as they appear from where they start to the end of the topmenu_plugin.rco file. So there's no real reason to think that the position of the rest of the icons, which includes the "glow" and shadow for all the icons (main and sub), is unknown.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get in touch with my friend for the last week and he has all the code that, with a little work, would greatly improve the current method of encoding BMPs to use as icons on the PSP. Also, we haven't figured out how to mess with what appears to be a list of pointers at the top of the topmenu_plugin.rco file so that we could effectively eliminate the current reliance on maintaining the current icon sizes and positions in the file. If we could figure that out, creating a completely customized set of icons would be trivial, which would include the glow and shadow for each icon and would not leave any icon out (ie RSS and camera icons).
If anyone has any useful info on the list of pointers, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone would like a more detailed explanation of what I'm talking about, I would be glad to put together a more detailed description with examples, in hopes that some one else would be able to extend what we have discovered so far.
Many apologies in advance for the long post

Edit:
Also for those of you actually intending to learn more about this, you'd be better off dumping a 2.50 firmware and looking at a raw topmenu_plugin.rco, rather than the one that's been hacked together by the various people who have worked on the this customizing software. If getting the update EBOOT, using the PBP unpacker, and then the PSAR dumper is too much for people to handle, I might be convinced to provide a link to download the topmenu_plugin.rco file, but I'd probably only handle that through PM, and on a very limited basis, mainly to people that seem to actually understand what I'm talking about. Then again, those people should find it trivial to get it themselves.
trug wat icons have you found so far?
Looking at a 2.60 firmware topmenu_plugin.rco, all of them minus the RSS stuff, camera stuff, and any icons that wouldn't exist in 2.60 that exist in 3.03.
would it be possible to take wat you have and find then on 3.03?
The problem with 2.70+ firmware, at least as far as the topmenu_plugin.rco file is concerned, is that the files seemed to have their contents compressed (or worse encrypted) in chunks similar to how they are compressed in 2.60. I've already explained most of this here.
So until I or someone else can figure out how to uncompress (or decrypt which is not very likely if the file is in fact encrypted) the topmenu_plugin.rco for 2.70+, this isn't going to be possible.
What I'm suggesting as a possible (and possibly easier) alternative, is to figure out how to change where the icons are found in the file, and more importantly make it possible to simply append new icons onto the end of the file. The problem here is understanding how the offsets and pointers to these icons are determined so that when we add or move icons, and more importantly add to the list of the order of the pictures that has already been found, the icons still work. Like I mentioned before, the key to this seems to lie in what looks like a list of pointers at the top of the topmenu_plugin.rco file.
LOL you know what?
we can probably apply the same methods to the 2.50 versions of
photo_plugin.rco
msvideo_main_plugin.rco
music_main_plugin.rco
to change all the little icons in those menus.
Although we are probably far, far away from doing something like that :p
Just a random thought.
