Yes. I upgraded to OE-C and flashed it and it works.
I really don't see why you couldn't just flash it yourself and see if it works.
At worst you'll get a temp-brick.

Can' wait for the downgrader... This message is perfectly hidden from view! I rule!
how do you make half transparent icons?
you don't
A pixel is either transparent or opaque.
uh, a little bit of correction there, the icons use a RGBA palette, and so there is an alpha value that does translate into transparency when used correctly.
no only the first color in your pallet is transparity so there is no alpha value its just rgb
sure the BMPs that are produced by mig2bmp may not have an alpha value, but if you actually look at the original mig file, and understand what is stored in it, you would see that it actually uses an RGBA palette. Unfortunately I don't know nearly enough about picture file formats to know what format would use a BMP like indexed format that has an RBGA palette, because that would be the file format that the icons should be converted to for general viewing and editing.
Also with all this talk of no transparency, has no one actually sat and looked at their original XMB icons on their PSP, preferably with the wave effect still enabled, and noticed that you can in fact see through them?
I love custom icons
Don't hate! thanks Anubis!
Nice Guide, really nice guide!
O.K.
I would like to know if its possible to put the camera, certificate utilities (small key), remote play and online manual icon back in my sub-icons without losing my custom icons and can someone direct me to a how-to about changing menu names and sub-icons?
download the package in my guide to get the regular sub icons back.
As for the changing names, check this guide out.
http://forums.qj.net/f-psp-mods-medi...ighlight=guide
For the sub-icons, check out the XMB Icon Hacking discussion. It requires major hex-editing yourself.

Someone is working on a program to do it for you so just sit tight.
Anyone interested in Linux binaries of the three icon programs?
Im interested :)
Someone got owned on the transparencies discussion there lol, way to show the elitists :)
Ok so, I'm brand new to these forums - this being my first post, and I'm fairly new to homebrew etc., only really taking an interest in the past few weeks so, please bare with me as I attempt to explain my problem.
Custom XMB looks cool so I'm quite keen to get this done, I downloading the .rar and extracted it to a folder on my desktop. Then I opened it, gave a readme a read and started to follow it through, and I got as far as the readme takes you really. I replaced the 6 icons in the "icons" folder with other icons from the .rar, I renamed them 1, 2, 3 etc. and then I opened start.cmd (I'm running 3.03OE B, that's ok? And I selected 3.02 from the list. I figured that would have more of the subicons? If this is going to be a problem please let me know) and it successfully created topmenu_plugin.rco in the same directory. Now here's where I get reallly confused, I don't know where to go from here. I have PSPFiler on my psp, I'm not really sure how to use it. The guide in the first post was useful for getting to grips with the controls of the program, but I don't understand a few things....
flash0? From what I understand that's like the built in memory of the psp that stores all important "we keep the psp running" files? In other words, screw it up and bricked?
Really, what are the chances of bricking? If I follow instructions 100% correctly, is there still a chance of bricking? A lot of you seem to have posted screenshots of multiple XMB icon sets, so you must have changed several times, so presumably the risk is small if you know what you're doing?
Does this mean something like overwriting topmenu_plugin.rco on the psp with your custom one? This is where I'm really confused, how exactly do you flash something to somewhere?Zitat:
you have to flash it to flash0:/vsh/resource
Anyway, I know it's quite a lot to ask, but could someone post a newbie guide to this? As in each step broken down a bit more.
Anyway thanks for the thread, if nothing else it was a good read. And thanks to whoever made these programs and icons if you're out there
EDIT: Oh, almost forgot, could someone point me to a guide\explain how to change the font?
Okay, first of all get yourself the latest version of X-Flash. put your topmenu_plugin.rco file in the modified folder in the X-Flash folder and for your custom fonts put the ltn0.pgf file in the modified folder also. start X-Flash and go to the option that says apply custom font(something like that) that will flash the ltn0.pgf file to flash0 giving you the custom font. I do recommend trying the font in DevHook first just to make sure it's okay. for your custom icons go to option 14 in X-Flash and press left ans x to enter the info screen then hold both shoulder buttons and press x to flash your topmenu_plugin.rco file.again I recommend trying it in DevHook first..
hope that helps...
also for gameboots use
gameboot path modifier( works on 3.03OE-b as well)
http://forums.qj.net/f-psp-developme...v10-85657.html
and for Cintro's use
Cintro mod(flashless version)
http://pspupdates.qj.net/Flashless-c...g/49/aid/79211
From X-Flash: "Version 2.7 or 3.02 detected but it does not appear to be an original release or a supported one of Dark_alexs" yada yada...you get booted.
As said in previous post, I'm using 3.03OE B, this a problem?
Hey, I want to request some help. On the icon generator, I got my bmps ready and everything, they are all the right resolution they need to be at and they're all the same size(5.05KB) but for some reason everytime I open the generator and start it, it says Icon #2 is too large when it's the same resolution and size as the others. It's 8 bit like all the others and I don't know what's the problem. Can anybody help me with this?
the top.rco option will not appear to the user unless he already has a decrypted modified 1 installed on that firmware he is using and for the time being i don't think u can get xflash for the latest custom firmware.Zitat:

So what does this mean for me? Do I need to use a different program?Zitat:

Man I wish I knew what I was doing :Argh:
check your pm's.............:)Zitat:

Thanks for the PM (lol what the hell was that vid about?!), however my problem is...a lot more basic.
How exactly do you "flash your custom topmenu_plugin.rco to vsh/ressource" what does this involve? I have no idea, I'm very new to this.
Where do I put my custom topmenu_plugin.rco? Where on mem stick? Then, what program do I use, pspfiler? how do I "flash" a file and what does that mean even
Sorry that I'm asking what most consider very basic questions here.
If you have 3.03 OE-C > then go to Recovery menu by holding R while reboot your PSP, go to Advanced > toggle Flash0 , and it will appear as a removeable drive on your computer (only if you plug the USB cable in, DUH). Copy topmenu_plugin.rco to vsh/resource on that removeable drive that appeared on your computer, overwrite it when prompted. And there you go, you got a brand new XMB icons to go.
I had some Gold Icons on my XMB but it was using the 2.5 topmenu so the sub icons were messed up. My pc is down right now so I cant make a Gold 3.03 Topmenu.
So I was wondering is someone would make a .rco and post it for me?
If every icon was gold that would be awsome.
But, if that is to hard just the top icons will be fine.
I just really want all the Icons to actually be there.
Thanks.
Ethan795, I've already answered your question in my last post.. you need to use the latest X-Flash if you have 3.03OE-B or do as Crushader said if you have OE-C
Ok, I change the first pallet color to a color I'm not using in the images. But when I run the generator, I still get the icon too big message or something. I read that you had to do something with the first color in the index of the color pallet and change it to a color that's not in there to fix that problem. But I'm still getting the same problem. How do I fix this?
If i have custom firmware on my psp can i not use the topmenu rco from there. Is this on decrypted ?
Alright, I did everything right, and when I exit the PSP Filer, I get a blank screen and I have to re- install my old top menu plugin. Iv'e tried everything and I get the same BULLS!#@ result. WTF am I doin wrong? This is really annoying. (I'm getting tired of looking at that same old retarded Menu)
Can anyone help me out? I followed all the directions but cant get my icons to work! If anyone could help me out and edit these icons so they will work, id be much obliged. Thanks :) i only need the s t a g letters.
will 3.02 OE Customizer work on 3.03 oe-c?
yes it will
Wow, that was so much easier. Still, i was scared as hell when i did it xD This was my first "flash" thingy with the PSP.Zitat:

Just returning to this thread to give a quick thanks to everyone who helped me. I upgraded to 3.03 OE-C and did it the way Chrushader suggested.
Could someone change these so that the back will show up as transparent instead of white. I tried just changing the background to gray but it still shows up as white

I have a minor issue that I hope someone can explain/fix for me. I've been using this thread and the Cusom XMB Icons thread to get a good feel for flashing topmenu_plugin.rco files before I start making my own. Love the threads, guide and themes that people are using, but I've noticed that when I flashed my topmenu_plugin.rco file with a custom one, my camera icon in my XMB is gone. Is this because the topmenu_plugin.rco file I used was made for a firmware that didn't have the camera icon? I figured I'd just use the submenu icon injector to replace it but I don't want to start messing with stuff I don't fully understand.
Any ideas? Anyone? I'm using 3.03 OE-C. Thanks in advance.
Yea the topmenu_plugin probably was for an older firmware or wasn't using an updated version.
Try to create your own using the packages linked in the first post.
And if you're feeling up to it, use the topmenu_plugin generator in my signature to change sub-menu icons as well.
Thanks man. I didn't realise that your generator did that too. I'll check it out when I get a chance tonight.Zitat:
