How do I get the subicons aswell? I can get the main icons with the prog anubis posted but how to get subicons?
Hi guys, im hoping you can give me some advice?
warning im a noob!
I recently downgraded from 2.71 to 1.5 then up to 3.03oe-c. Ive read all 85 pages from this thread!!!! and im still a bit confused as to what programmes i need to change my xmb.
I did try using pspfiler but when i put it on my memory stick in the game folder it just says corrupt.
Any help appreciated
Thanks
- Go to the first post of this thread and download Windows icon maker.Zitat:

- Open it up and there will be 3 more .zips in there, as you're running 3.03oe-c you want xmb-icons-3xx.zip, extract it to a folder then open that folder.
- Then you should come to a folder called data, start.cmd, read.txt and 1-6 bmps.
- When you run start.cmd, the 6 pictures in that folder (which MUST be named 1, 2, 3, etc. I suggest you get them from here as they're all the right size and format already) will be made into topmenu_plugin.rco, that's what you need to put on your psp.
- Turn on your psp holding R trigger to enter recovery mode, then go to advanced>Toggle USB (flash0) and enable it.
- Plug your psp into your pc via usb and it should detect the flash0, rather then the usual memory stick. There will be different folders here to what you're used to when looking at your psp via usb, from what I understand they're very fragile, so don't change anything you don't know or you could brick your psp.
- Go to x:\VSH\Resource and there will be a file in there called topmenu_plugin.rco, you might want to back it up I guess, then just replace it with your topmenu_plugin.rco which we made earlier.
- Exit recovery mode and enjoy your new XMB :D
A bit of a warning, I only learnt how to do this a few days ago, I might have missed something out\wrote something wrong, if you read back over the posts where people have helped me, you might find the answer from someone more experienced there.
Stick it in the GAME150 folder.Zitat:

Here is a flasher for you non USB flash0 users, Or user's who don't want to use pspfiler.
Just have your topmenu_plugin.prx in the root of your memorystick and have the Ac adapter plug in then run the program.
[edit] file taken donw due to a little error, Will be back asap.
Thank you for your program
In the readme though, you said topmenu_plugin.PRX >.<
Also, a basic GUI where we can select which topmenu to flash would be nice. Something similar to Slasher's XMB wave flasher.
Again, thanks!
Could someone make these into icons for me please

GUI is on its way, I will be working on one shortly...And its just a typo :PZitat:

Here's the flasher(fixed error)

Good.
It works perfectly now. :tup:
Glad you liked it.
Hopefully others will...
BTW, Was it fast? As in the flashing and exiting part?
Or will you rather just use the recovery then USB flash0 method?
Flashing was a little slow.
For a second, I thought it froze or something.
The only problem besides the lack of a GUI is that I had to have my A/C adaptor connected for it to run.
I say disable it for the next version.
I'm going to use it from now on. Hope you keep it updated.
Ok, So disable AC requirement and add a GUI, Gotcha, Will do!
Ok, I disabled the AC requirement, Just gotta add a GUI.
It will be very simple one just to make flashing easier, I will update later
Hey I seem to be incapable of making a new topmenu_plugin...so I decided to use the new one which does all the subicons at the same time...however....I don't want the subicons I just want the original 6. When I only include the 6 the program crashes because it's still looking for the submenu ones...is there a way I can avoid this?
http://www.sendspace.com/file/w0u0yw
That's the link to my 6 if someone can make me a topmenu for 3.03 OE-C...my computer seems to be incapable of doing it now. I'll run all the topmenu generators I can get my hands on and each time the topmenu is returned to me UNCHANGED.
I tried it out and it keeps giving me an error that 2.bmp is too large. I dunno why though because the file seems fine to me in PS.Zitat:

Check your PMs :)Zitat:

Sometimes when icon-coder converts the icon, it actually makes a larger file than the joiner program is expecting.Zitat:
Zitat von ChazB
So just make the image on the 64x64 canvas smaller.
Then it should generate the topmenu_plugin without a hitch.

can you post the link to where you got the topmenu & submenu changer?
cheers

I mean, it's great and all sharing this program, but you could of atleast creditted me or something. I made the majority of this program, you just changed a few lines, no?Zitat:

http://slasher.team-duck.com 1.5 flasher?
@ Chaz: Yeah I figured it was that because the 1, 3-6 icons work find as long as I'm using a 2.bmp other than the one I made.
@ Ethan: Yeah...the topmenu you gave me is the original topmenu icons. I know you actually ran it though a converter...so did I...and I got that result. It HAS to be the 2.bmp because that's the only one I made myself and it's the only one causing probs.
So the 1, 3-6 I got out of the icon pack and the 2 I made myself. That's because I wasn't happy with my photos being labled "Sony". So I got a silver camera icon and cropped it over the image and tried to save it to the right specs. As I've said and as Ethan will see if he tests the topmenu he gave me it just won't create a new topmenu with that 2.bmp.
The 2.bmp is too big I think. When I tried to hex it was a few lines of code larger than it should have been and therefore ran over into the next icon's code.
If someone could make me a 2.bmp which is a black folder with a camera (and I HAVE seen them around in people's screenshots) I think it might work.
Just make the image on the canvas smaller.
If its 60*60 shrink it down to 50x50 on the 64x64 canvas.
Then it will work.
@Slasher
LOL, the hard life of a Dev. Never receiving credit.
Using your source, I could have made the program myself...
Good work, Slasher.
I just took the time to quickly remake it and everything is fine now...it WAS 2.bmp that was causing problems.Zitat:

Slasher: No, I didnt use your 1.5 flasher.
I used a little something like this, Just editted it abit:p
Code:char write_buffer[128*1024];
void write_file(const char *read_loc, const char *write_loc, const char *name)
{
int fdin;
int fdout;
char readpath[256];

Just a quick question... Does anyone know when Custom Icons will be able to work on 3.10 OE-A? If not can someone please point me in the direction of downgrading it to 3.03 OE...
Thanks.
I'm just a noob here, but I think the first page says it all. -- "CUSTOM XMB TOPMENU_PLUGIN.RCOs (CUSTOM ICONS) DO NOT WORK IN 3.10 OE-A!!!!" although I'm hoping that it would also.
i like it!!!
How do i change to 8-bit in paint?
Can this be used with 1.5 or 3.3 on DevHook?
if so tell me how

hey guys, after a few thing this and that, i got a 3.10oea stock topmenu plugin on my 3.03oec, it ran fine and all, except the game and online icons were switched around, and there was a seventh internet icon but there was no menu under it, so im doing some hex editing between the files but anubis told me that since its encoded or somethin its useless, im guessing the reason icons dont work on 3.10oea yet is because no one has figured out the structure or somethin? well i'll do my best but i dont really know what i can come up with
heres a link to the thread by the way

Updated my guide because it was so ancient.
I need more screenshots and better formatting.
So right now its more of an informative report.
I am looking for a topmenu_plugin with just these icons!Zitat:

I've pretty much figure out how to use 32-bit bitmaps and the alpha channel. The alpha channel is limited to a small number of shades, but it works very well.
Well, I was going through my projects and i guess i forgot to release v.2 of my flasher :P
Its nothing compared to slasher's but heh, Im not as experienced as him either.
Well, I added a simple menu,
X - Flash
R - Exit
Menu will be updated later, I plan to make a preveiw feature also in next release. PS> I put back the AC cable check cause people wanted it, BUt i know anubis wouldnt want it so i made a special version for him:P
So it depends if you fell safer with the cable or not.
---INSTALL---
-Place the "Flasher" folder in PSP>GAME[150]>
-Place topmenu_plugin.rco in root of meorystick.
-Run flasher and when prompted, Press X to flash.
Download v.2
Download-No power cable required v.2
i have a psp 3.03OE-C and i need help on how to put a different xmb on here can some on help me out.
im trying to convert some pngs to 32 bit bmp's but im having trouble. how do i go about doing so in photoshop?/ i tried selecting RGB and indexing colors but i either get a file i can only save in 8 bt or a 32 bit that says it has to many colors for rco editor...
any help??
how can i change the bmp from 24bit to 32bit???
Generally, a 24 bit BMP most likely does not have an Alpha channel
So open Photoshop and add one.
Look for the 32-bit Icon Guide in the Mods section.
Anybody have any good MEtroid Themes?
