xmbWave - Editing the Wave effect

Hi,
I'm back with a minor update to deflating system_plugin_bg.rco.
It now checks for the file size and allows padding to system_plugin_bg.rco files which are less than 40.8 KB.

Also a padder for system_plugin_bg.rco files which are less than 41,844 bytes.

does any1 know how to change the wave speed. the speed it is going now is so slow

Move around the data between 9139 and 24065. I think each section controls one pixel high of detail on the wave effects.

i wanna make one that shifts colors from like blue to purple to red with all the colors in between... wonder if its possible..

This is what the flame waves look like black, if someone knows another way to turn the waves black let me know, cause this just looks crappy.

If any one on a mac was wanting to do this i made a applescript and icon-coder for it http://forums.qj.net/f-psp-developme...hlight=xmbWave Also ill try to make a linux version its really easy just go download http://zlib.net/zpipe.c
then make sure you have zlib installed
and run this to compile zpipe (icon-coder)

For those of you tired of going through all the command prompts here is a very useful program that will allow you to extract the OMG (the part you people are hexing) and replace it in a 2.50 system_plugin_bg.rco

Not to mention it supports just about all the other RCOs in 2.50 ;)

Does anyone particularly z33 want to write up a nice tutorial Because I figured out that tha part in where you said to edit to change the thickness will also change the color. Also it can Change the wave shape. I understand the color completely thats really easy. I really cant add another wave thoug because when i do that it just shows no waves. A nice tut would be very good and the tut should end up making something unique to each person. (Like do something based off their telephone number or something).

to fix that check the file size of system_plugin_bg.rco, it needs to be 41,844 bytes. If its smaller, open the .rco in your hex editor and add zeros at the end untill you get 41,844 bytes.

Or use this Padder, It checks the file size and pad the appropriate "00". Don't worry it's fool proof.

FOUND OUT THAT Z33 HAS PACK HIS RELEASE A DIFFERENT WAY.
DEFLATING IS IMPOSSIBLE USING MY SCRIPT!

USE RCOTOOL TO DEFLATE HIS RELEASE, IT'S HIS OWN TOOL.

Wow, that documentation explains a lot. Specifically:

Well, the texture as well as the colors are included inside a TGA image file. Knowing this makes editing the waves a whole lot easier (to change color, you can just use a photoshop filter). The image is between offsets 7056 and 24228. Extract this and save it as a .tga .

Also, it seams Z33's wave effects weren't so planned after all.

is the file size really that important cause none of the ones i make are exactly the right size.. they all vary a little but they all work like some are 41,838 and i remember another bieng 41,844.. like i said they all work tho

no they are all differnt but i don't like how it turns tho

After I inject a new tga, the file's compressed size is too big.
Is there a way bypass the file-size limitation?

Did Z33 Release anything else? Because he either found a way to compress more of the file, or remove a lot of junk. His latest release is half the size of the original, so he must have.

Meh, I am still figuring out how the PSP formats the TGA.

P.S. On the PSP, that wave don't look that great.

I've got ten pics of the ps3 wave (all colors) but tried using tga thing and it didn't work

Sorry, if i'm lazy, but looking through 100 pages isn't easy at all. I have looked through 60 of them. Does anyone know where i can download this wave?

I remember coming across the site and place for downloading them, but i forgot the site and didn't bookmark it. :Argh: I was in a hurry at the time.

I also remember that there were multiple colors.

If someone could find these, than that would be great.
