Seems that it's easier to make a theme, than to name it. >_<
Like the first one, but how do the aliens (or space invaders) differ from icon to icon? Don't really like the second one, just a little too simple for me.
1st: 9/10
2nd: 7/10
the first one has pixel art for each menu, like space invaders for game, a pixel art tree for photo, tools for system, ect.
I'm a true minimalist, and the second one shows. I may release it for others like me. :p

The text makes it look way to crowded. Go with just icons.
Nice, one more thing. The settings icon overlaps the sub menu icons, so i'd just make the selected sub menu icon appear right above the selected main menu icon.
It needs less beveling. A bit of transparency would fit it better.
