Metal Slug Mp3 curiosity
Well, I just got Neo Geo CD and Metal Slug one, after hours of 56k downloading, and I couldn't be happier. I was extremely impressed even before I realized I was only on 222 clock speed, and now I'm dumbfounded. It's great.
However, something confuses me. Is the menu screen supposed to be without any sound? When I unrared everything, tracks 2-20 were unrared, along with a rar file entitled track one, which after unraring contained a lot of other random files, none of them music.
Track two is silence.
Track three is a cool march that sounds a lot like menu music.
So far I've tried different songs as track two and discovered that it is the mp3 asssigned to the menu, but why the original mp3 is just silence is unknown to me.
When I go into the image gallery and change tracks, however, they all seemed to be named properly, with the marching song the first on the list and entitled "march," and others titled appropriately. At first I questioned whether or not the song entitled "Metal Slug Theme" sounded at all like theme music, but I've dropped those doubts.
So, is there a possibility that these tracks are somenow numbered improperly, that I'm missing a track, or am I just being rediculous?

I think they're corect. You are not missing a track as "track 1" was where the data was stored on the disc so it should be a lot of different files and not music.

Sweet. Thanks a lot for the help.

I'm thinking I'm going to just make a copy of track three and name it track two, because i think that would make for some good menu music. I can't do that just yet though because track three is bigger than track two and i have practically no space left at all.

If you want you can use your own MP3s, I did and it was quite cool. Only problem is the size.

I kinda agree... I like there new album, but you can't really pick cirtain songs... You kinda have to listen to the whole thing from beginning to end (and I don't really wanna do that)... It's kind of like one contiuous track cut up into twelve...

You must try the Neo CD emu, it is probably the best PSP emu around. Full speed, full screen Metal Slug with custom soundtracks is priceless. Speaking of music, Leeds on Wednesday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I've experimented with custom tracks, however I have about 750 kb of space left so I've been trying to come up with a complete replacement metal slug playlist instead of just changing individual songs, due to size differences.
I did, however, pay tribute to Megaman by setting the first level to the Elecman theme, or as I like to call it, "You can do it!"
Try singing that to the elecman theme in a hispanic accent. :)
