Default Super Mario Kart - Is there a way to get it to run smoothly ?

Using snes9xYTL, SMK doesn't run very well and it pretty much unplayable. Anybody had any luck with other emus to get it to work better ?

This is probably the one game I really really want and I am a little gutted that it is not quite there yet.

I get it working pretty good... increase the processor speed to 333mhz, and put frameskip on 1-2.
