can someone teach me how the battle system works? in star ocean.. coz i really cant understand it... "sorry 4 my english"

Hmm, well I've played the PS2 one, but I can get the rom easy enough as try it out to see if I can figure it out. That or someone who actually knows how it works can tell you faster.

I have it, played it and basically all you do is run and attack faster than your opponent until he dies. Thats what I do

Just keep pressing O. Or If you want the attack a traget just press O once and then left or right to aim at the traget, and then O again. Just Keep press O. Hopefully thsi will help

I like this battle system better because you dont have to wait to fight. Its not I hit you and you hit me. You just keep hitting until they are dead. Fun

The battle system in star ocean is different from most RPGs, although not too difficult to understand.

In battle, press circle to attack, then select an enemy, you can now press circle to attack. If you have assigned this character a special ability in one of the triangle menus (i forget which) you can execute this special attack instead, by pressing the shouldour button you set the special to.

You can select another character and pause the battle temporarily by pressing cross. The cursor now allows you to select a different character and the battle resumes.

You can set different formations for your characters and tactics for them to use while your not controling them in the tactics triangle menu, this allows for a much more controlled approach to the characters you are not directly controlling.


you can download an english patch for the game (which is perfectly legal) at http://www.dejap.com/so.php just place the file in the same directory as the rom, with the same name as it, but keep the file type for the patch the same as it was when you downloaded it.

Hopefully ive made playing star ocean more enjoyable for you, but if not, i just wasted 5 mins typing this out :icon_wink
