With a lot of games that are two player (Super Mario or Example), it's mostly One player at a time. Is it possible to emulate both player one and player two one one pad, and play a game in a pass-the-psp type way? Is there any Emu's that do this already?

You can pass-the-PSP with any Mario game out there. Player one plays as Mario and player two plays as Luigi. When Mario beats a level the game switches to Luigi, and this is where player two picks up. I know Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World work like that.

Well, in my opinion all emulators should have a "Switch to 2nd Controller" option for limited situations such as that of the first mario for NES. In addition, the other day I was considering a control method for allowing 2 players to play the NES emulator on one psp.
Player 1 holds the PSP normally, uses the thumbstick to move, X and Circle (I would suggest this player wears the handstrap) Player 2 would hold the psp upside down at the same time, using the D-Pad (yes its on the left hand side, this may be counter-intuitive) and uses the Triangle and Square buttons. In addition, there are two displays, one rightside up, and one upside down, so that each player can view the game rightside up by looking at the screen on their right. This would require you to toggle something in the emulator menu from single player to two player mode.

No, you can play Super Mario World 2players. Only 1 controller required. This probably holds true with most games where you do not play simultaneously.
