Default snes slowdown

My Chrono Trigger is so slow I can't stand playing it. I'm using some kind of snes9x emu I got from the files-section. In the menu it says * uo_Snes9x för PSP Ver .0.02y31 *
I experience this problem in most snesgames :/

I thought I had gotten hold of the newest but it seems I'm wrong.
What emu should I use?

lower the sound frequency, make sure you're clock is 333mhz. and use tyl 0.2c. oh, auto frameskip too. some roms just don't play full speed, but i'm able to play crono trigger at pretty decent speed. some slowdowns on the battles, but nothing too bad.

I used uo_snes9x0.02y32 for a long time. Then, when TYL 0.2c started working on 2.0, I switched. WOW. It runs superbly. 42-62ish frames ALWAYS. Usually 50ish frames.

my cousin told me that 333mhz pushes ur battery too hard and it dies quickly

also, auto frameskip never really makes a difference. the roms run the same exact speed wether auto frameskip is on or off.

1. your cousin is an idiot (no offense). 333mhz is the "natural" speed of the PSP. sony just underclocked it SO THE BATTERY WOULD LAST LONGER.no so that it would damage it.

2. actually, it makes a BIG difference for me while playing Chrono Trigger, and all Mario games.

the sound doesnt make any difference at all for me i always have everything turned up all the way and all my games run at about 50-60 all the time sometimes requiring a frameskip of 2 maybe but most of the time 0 except for games like mario rpg and chrono trigger and kirby

It still drains the battery quicker, 222mhz is the current "natural" speed because the battery would drain to fast. Longer life batteries will come, there allready is a 2200mAh coming out soon if it already has'nt but isnt worth buying yet until the price comes down or a bigger increase in life than 4000mAh.

Damn straight, it's so worth it to up the clock speed to 333, I dont care that much about the batytery life but it would be a very good thing to have a good regular sized 3600mAh battery.

btw, does anyone know if 1.5 homebrew has the same problems with slow emulation like 2.0 or is it more refined?

Well you woudn't necessarily lose the browser and custom backgrounds as there are alternative ways of doing these on 1.5.

There are no differences in terms of "speed" when running an emulator on 1.5 or 2.0.
The emulators run at the same "speed" on any firmware capable of running them.
This isn't Windows.

right, but am i correct in assuming that the custom background and web browser features included in the 2.0 firmware are superior to the homebrew options?

yes far superior, although if you look hard enough, you should be able to find some good pics for pspersonalize that will look pretty good, but still not the resolution of 2.0 and up. I dont know about the browser as I havent been able to check it out yet but I'am sure it's better than homebrew browser, but I still have 1.5 after trying 2.0, I loved the wallpaper function so much but I like my homebrew and such.
