Super Mario Bros 2 (JAPANESE VERSION)
I was wondering if any one had any success in being able to play Japanese version of Super Mario Bros 2. I'm talking about the same game as "Super Mario The Lost Levels" from Super Mario All-Stars but only it's the original NES version which was never released in the US. Just to not confuse anyone I'll include a pic of what I'm talking about. The game loads but it just hangs on the title screen and that's about all it'll do.

What format is your copy of the rom in?
I've got the FDS version and Nester won't even read it. The PC version of Nester runs it just fine.

Actually, I have both Super Mario 2 (j), and Doki Doki Panic, and the game runs fine.
You will need disksys.rom with the games to play famicom. You can search for the mario game online, and you will find it with the .rom file included.
again, you will need the disksys.rom file in order to make the .fds file work!!!!

eddy, my copy gives me the Gray Screen of Death (what Nester does when it fails to load a game).
However, it runs fine on my PC (using the PC version of Nester).
edit
Got it. The disksys.rom file needs to be placed in the folder with the emulator, not the roms (I keep my roms and emulators seperate).

oops lol
yea, I guess I didn't explain it throrougly. I was skeptical if my post would violate any type of rules set in the forum.
Yes, you have to put the disksys.rom in the same folder as the emulator itself.
Also...if you are playing Doki Doki Panic, and have that terrible problem of seeing the intro looping and cannot start the game, you have to wait until the words "Please set side B" appears, then quickly go out of the game...do not restart!!!
As if you are saving, get out of the game with the top L button, and go to "disk change"....then select "change 1st disk side B" (as the game instructs..hehe), press O, then go back into the game...
You will now see the word "wait..", then the game will begin!!
(Only seems to have the change disk problem set to Doki Doki...unless there is another game that I have to change disk)
Also...in order to play these games without lagging, I suggest using 333 MHZ speed.

I found an IPS patch that made Mario 2 (J) work...
smb2j-ips.zip is the name of the file.
