What in the world are you talking about, BEST CONSOLE EVER.....please, spare me from laughing...but the SNES is the BEST CONSOLE EVER CREATED....not the overdone nes. Sure, some of the games are legendary, but.....in the case of all mario games from nes, I have for SNES as Super Mario All Stars...so there....besides, I got tired from playing NES games, back in 2003..

and how old are you...30? NES games are so outdated compared to their SNES Counterparts.

Excellent choice man (if I made a generalization about a typical 21 yrs old's taste in video gaming, no offense lol). NES came out when I was in 6th grade and boy oh boy... it's still my best console of all time, hands down. I still remember the day I got NES from Fedco with Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt and two games, Metroid and Kid Icarus. (dang, feeling nostalgic..) Consoles these days can pump up realistic graphic/sound/etc, however, I had more fun playing NES games somehow... (may be because I was a kid back then..)

since you mentioned Super Mario All Stars.. well, in case with Ninja Gaiden Triology for SNES, it was a big disappointment because they messed with sound. They remixed the whole soundtrack and it really destroyed the game (Ninja Gaiden series' was known for its insane difficulty, refreshing cutscenes, and awesome soundtrack) I guess I got more out of playing those SNES games you mentioned (by the way, EXCELLENT choice for RPGs!!) because they were sequels to the great games I played on NES.

And yes, I'm 31 and NES happens to be the best console of all time for me. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with someone choosing SNES or PSX or even PSP as his best console; it's a matter of personal taste (and yes, time-frame plays a big factor here also; 5th grade is most likely pick GameCube Zelda over NES Zelda because NES Zelda looks so 'undesirable')
It's just that c4pnfuffy and you are like what, 3 years apart and he was able to enjoy NES somehow.. I think that was a blessing for him from my point of view simplay because I had so much fun playing NES.

I didn't write this to make you feel bad and you shouldn't be- if you did then I apologize sincerely; it's strictly about my personal taste.

Well, you mentioned some of RPGs I haven't even heard of- like Terranigma which is a MUST PLAY in your list; well, I'm gonna take your advice and give it a try because I see that you got an excellent taste in RPG's :icon_smil

I agree with Basil Zero's list, all great games.
Just, Super Mario RPG doesnt run very good yet, either you'll be skipping alot of frames and it will look sluggish and you will miss your 2-hit combo often, or you can play with low frame skips and have battles last a long time. >.<

mega man 2 for the nes is a classic..

i went over a friends apartment and showed him what my psp could do.. out of all the movies, music, pictures, web browsing etc.. he got most excited about mega man 2 playing in near perfect quality on the psp

so in summary: you cant go wrong with mega man 2

WWF RAW should be an SNES must have...An excellent game if you like fighting sims...

Right now im only using the NES emulator since its the only one that works perfectly on 2.00...I have an SNES emulator but most my games (like WWF RAW) are way too laggy...

Anyways For NES the 3 must haves are

Contra (both were excellent but i like the second one more)
1943 (1942 was great too)
Mike Tysons Punchout (the greatest boxing game ever)

The mario games are a no brainer...Those dont need to be mentioned, everyone knows those are must haves...

How can you not mention Terranigma's prequel Illusion of Time (Illusion of Gaia - US) its one of the best SNES RPG's!!! Its fantastic!!

Well, Illusion of Gaia may be the prequel of the Terranigma, but it is nothing compared to the sequel of the game. I did not like the gameplay of Illusion of Gaia, it seemed slow compared to its sequel, and the story was not very exciting, but than again thats my opinion, I found Secret of Mana to be more enjoying than Illusion of Gaia, although both had similiar speed(gameplay speed). Terranigma is fast paced just like Secret of Mana 2.

Oh, and if anyone mentions Soul Blazer, which is the prequel to the Illusion of Gaia, this is what I have to say:

SOUL BLAZER is ONE OF THE TOP 10 WORST GAMES on SNES!
