Zsnes does work as long as you use the "Import Savestate" option, after that, save, use "Save Stae" to keep it TYL compatible, but you cannot convert it back to Zsnes.

Ok, do you have any idea what type of file it would be in my Znes folder?

Using the import savestate function, it recognizes files with the .000 extension, and .zaX, X being a number.
