pcep is amazing
I just got my psp today, and I finally got pcep working. This program is just incredible. I was obsessive about my turbografx back in the day, but I have a Mac and there's never been a very functional mac pc engine emulator. But this thing is practically flawless, and on a handheld! I was just playing Aeroblasters widescreen at 266, and it's so good...so many memories. I am in awe of the people who write these programs...please keep up the good work!
I'm probably insane, but I haven't even played the umd game I got with the system yet (wipeout)...there's still devil's crush, military madness, ninja spirit, blazing lazers... I feel like a kid again...

pcep is amazing. The games run perfect. I've also enjoyed playing Aero Blasters. someone suggested it in another thread. So far I've played Shinobi, Operation Wolf, Galaga, all of these are way better than the NES versions. Does anyone know if any home version of Shinobi has the bonus stage where you throw the Ninja Stars from a First person view?

I agree, its the smoothest running emu out for the PSP. No slow down what so ever. Don't forget to get roms for Splatter House,Raiden, Legendary Axe and bloodt Wolf. The only thing bad about it is that I can't play Blazing Lazer...mid way through the first level it got corrupted.Anyone else have this problem?

I never got a chance to play a TG-16 until I got PCEP and I've been playing mostly Neutopia and Neutopia II.
I'd also like to add that those two games are the two biggest Zelda ripoffs I've ever seen.
I like the plot for Neutopia.
Bad guy captures the princess and places the 8 medallions in 8 labryinths.
Plot for Zelda 1
Ganon captures Princess Zelda and she splits the Triforce of Wisdom into 8 seperate parts and places them in 8 dungeons.

I'm glad you guys found the time to discover PCEP - it truly is a great emulator with some great games (this system was ahead of it's time when it came out... and pricey... which is why it didn't do well in the face of Nintendo). It's sad that it gets so overlooked around here with everyone scrambling for their Nintendo platforms and Genesis. ;)

You see, I like to think of it as we're a part of this ubercool underground videogame society where we get to play all the best games that never got released. Of course that could just be the schizophrenic in me.

All I could say is that i was fortunate enough to be able to play Y's book I and II on the turbo cd-rom. I almost cried in joy, as soon as I saw the opening of that game with its music and voice dialogue. I've never experience anything like it before during that time....even though the cd player itself cost me $399.99.

I tried to get Ys Book I and II to run on this earlier today and I couldn't:mad:.
This is the only way I've gotten to play the TG-16 and I'm enjoying it.
Can't wait until the CD support gets better, man, that's going to be great.

I'm not ashamed to admit it...I shed real tears when I heard that deep voice say "eeeeaaassee" the first time. My friends and I used to play it over and over again and laugh at how cool it was that the game was actually talking.
We've come a long way, huh?
Blazing Lazers dies for me at the same place, but super star soldier is almost as good and very similar. The Bonk games are all great but a little too easy. And definitely try Ninja Spirit! Relentless enemies, huge bosses...you just jump and swing your sword constantly, and keep getting power ups til you've turned into three ninjas with laser swords. It's awesome. I'm also loving Legendary Axe again (the sequel is lame by comparison.)
2 things about turbografx games i've noticed...The soundtracks are almost always excellent. And there is just an obsession with extreme power-up silliness in many games (the shooters, the bonk games) that was taken about as far as it could go.

Someone need to port Y's book 1 and 2 bad, and keeping everything intact. What I don't get is, there're ports and remakes of later Y's game which all of them were lame. Even though Y's 3 was lame, I uses it as a regular music cd since the music was still great.

Ys I and II are TG-16 CD games, they run on the emulator, it just takes some work (I couldn't do it when I tried yesterday).
Zitat von noize
I'd really like to though, I played Napishtim on my PS2 and enjoyed it a lot, so I want to go back and play the older games in the series.

Before I traded in my Duo and games, I recorded all the music on tape just because I loved them that much. I wish I was able to burn cd's back then though.

How's the sound quality though? I won't even bother if it sounds like crap. One more thing, how much space does the ISO data takes up on a MS?

Noise: Space wise, it takes up very little, depends on the game. I have like 6 right now, average size is like 50mb I guess w/ mp3 included, per game. the mp3s take up a decent amount too, but you can re-encode them to make 'em smaller. The CD audio has some hitches in it in the emu right now, so if perfect sound is a deal breaker, wait awhile.
I noticed no new version have been out on a little while, but I've been watching HUE (other tg16 emu) and it's last readme, has a TODO list, and has CD or ISO or something listed on it, so hopefully soon we will have 2, maybe the competition will spur some more advancement on the audio front.
BTW- Sylphia is FANTASTIC on this thing.
Also go find XAK 3, it's been translated and is supposedly an excellent RPG (havent tried it yet but it looks nice)

Yeah, great emulator for pc engine/TG16. I was a TG16 freak - had me 5 controllers, a multitap, two TG16 consoles, CD system attachment, a buttload of games, a Turbo Duo, the adapter needed to play SFII Champion Edition, 5 turbo duo controllers, the Duo multi tap and some other junk I can't remember, lol. Man the music on the CD games was fantastic though. I'd have saves position at different parts of YS I, II and III just so I could sit there listening to the music, lol. Dungeon Explorer II had fantastic music too. Really good stuff. I was fortunate, though, and during the napster days, I was able to get my hands on most of my favorite songs from all them games I just listed. My wife keeps em on her PSP - wish I had me the games or the iso's so she could play em, but no such luck! I tried buying Dungeon Explorer 2 off the web for like 40 bucks but the site went down and dissapeared forever with my money.
lol
Anyways, I'm lovin this emu and the games. Btw, does anyone have any idea WHY some roms work on my PC emu's, but they won't work at all on the psp emulators? I had this same issue with Nester. Galaga didn't work for Nester and Bonks Adventure + a load of other roms I had wouldn't work either. But they worked fine on the pcengine emu I have on PC. Then I went and decided to try downloading some roms from a new site I came across and MOST of the games worked! I wonder why that is.

In regards to your question....I think it has to do with the way the emulator has been coded because newer versions will allow you to play the roms that used to not work.
Zitat von shadowknight
In regards to your save points on Ys I and II, III....you could also just stick the cd game in a cd player and skip to the third track to listen to all the great music!! Make sure to listen to the first track though,,,,its hilarious and always different on every cd-rom game!!!
