*Note: Now that Homer's RIN (v3.0 and v3.2) has cheats, this guide can be used for both his RIN (for 2.01-2.5-2.6) and the other RIN (for 1.0-1.5-2.0).*
OK, so here's how I was able to get cheats in RIN v1.32 when I was experimenting (I hope you're only experimenting because cheats make the game so much less fun if you use them to beat the game): 1) Open up Notepad or a similar text editor. 2) On the first line type a name for the cheat your adding so you can identify it in RIN (it doesn't have to be any certain name, it's just to help you out so you don't have to remember which cheat is which just by looking at the codes). 3) On a new line type the cheat code for the name you just entered. The only cheats that work are Gameshark Pro Action Replay cheat codes. 4) If you want to add another one, hit enter twice and repeat steps 2-3. (There should be a blank line between your first cheat name and code and your second one.) If you don't get what I mean scroll down to the example to see what it should look like. 5) Add all the cheats you want using the method in steps 2-3, still adding one blank line between each cheat. 6) Once you've entered all the cheats you want to use, push enter once so that there is now a blank line after your last cheat. This is important! Your cheat file will not load if you don't have this extra blank line at the end! 7) Save the file using the same name as the ROM for the game you're using the cheats on and give it the extention .tch (if your text editor automatically adds a .txt after the .tch just rename it and take out the .txt). When saving, make sure the encoding is set to ANSI if you are using Notepad. If this does not appear as an option on your Notepad or other text editor, just try normally saving it. 8) Put the file on your PSP in a folder called "CHEAT" inside your "RIN" folder (so the cheat file you just made should go in X:PSP/GAME/RIN/CHEAT where X is your PSP's drive letter). You may have to create this folder if it doesn't exist. 9) Load up RIN, go to the menu and go down to "Load Cheat File" and select the cheat file you just put on your memory stick. 10) Go back to the RIN menu and go to "Select Cheatcode". Here, you can disable any of the cheats in your cheat file that you don't want to be on and reenable them later when you do want them to be on. 11) That's it...you're all done. The cheats that are enabled should be working in the game now. OK, in case the creating-the-cheat-part was confusing here's an example: For this example your ROM name will be ABC123.gbc. Your file should be named ABC123.tch because it should match the ROM name. The cheats inside this file will be in this format: Code:
Title of Cheat 1 Cheat code Title of Cheat 2 Cheat code Title of Cheat 3 Cheat code Title of Cheat 4 Cheat code Title of Cheat 5 Cheat code Also, if the cheat you want to use has more than one code to use it, you have to enter each of the codes for it as seperate cheats. For example, you'd put CHEATNAMEHERE Part 1 as the title and then hit enter and put the first code, then hit enter twice and put CHEATNAMEHERE Part 2 and hit enter and put the second code. Follow this until you've got all the codes for that cheat entered. Anyway if you did everything correctly as stated in this guide, you're cheats should work. If not, try some more codes from different sites, and if none work, you can post here and I'll try to help you. I hope this guide helps people. Last edited by pspfan; 03-18-2006 at 04:48 PM.. |

And yes, you just have to hit enter twice at the end of your cheat to leave to blank lines. I guess it tells the emulator that the cheat file is over or something. If you don't do it and you try to load your cheat file, you'll get a message that says "Cheat Load Failed" and you won't be able to use your cheats until you go back and add the two lines to your cheat file. You can try it if you want... Edit: Actually there only needs to be one blank line at the end. (Don't know why I though it was 2...) But you definitely need it. It will not work with no blank lines at the end. Last edited by pspfan; 02-19-2006 at 06:31 PM.. |

Post your cheat file here. The cheats you must use are Gameshark Pro Action Replay cheats. Also, they don't need any dashes in them, just the number and letters. For example, you'd do:
Code:
Catch Mew 95cff73d Code:
Catch Mew 95c-ff-73d |

Instead of 0120F0D5 try 9120F0D5 . I remember on a cheat site it said sometimes you have to change the first 0 to a 9. And if that doesn't work, try some more cheats from that site. If none work, then the site has the wrong kind of cheats (maybe Game Genie instead of Gameshark...) and you can just go to another site. If other ones from that site do work, then I have no clue why that specific cheat doesn't work if the 0-->9 change doesn't help... |

Oh. This happens if you don't have the extra line at the end. Is your cheat file in this format:
Code:
Cheat Name xxxxxxxx Cheat Name xxxxxxxx Cheat Name xxxxxxxx You may want to post your cheat file here so I can check it out. |

OK I just did a search and I found that this is the code for catching any pokemon in the wild, with XX being the pokemon's digits (01=Bulbasaur, etc.).
91XX04D2 I'm not sure why your code is different...maybe it's for Game Genie instead of Game Shark? Anyway, for all your "in Wild" codes try using this code instead, and replace the XX with the digits, which are the 3rd and 4th characters in the code you provided (Celebi=FB, Suicine=F5, Entei=F4, Squirtle=07, Charmander=04, Bulbasaur=01, Mew=91). Also, temporarily take out all the other cheats, so you just have a bunch of "in Wild" codes for all those pokemon. Report back if it works. If it does, this just means your cheat site has the wrong kind of cheats. If not, just say so and I'll see what I can do. Edit: Hey, this is my 100th post... |
