I know there are a bunch of SNES emulators out there but I'm just wondering if after I get one do I have to worry about downloading a rom for that one.

Will any SNES rom work on any SNES emulator?

Not necessarily. Most ROMs requiring Mode 7 or the FX chip work very poorly. Examples: Yoshi's Island, StarFox, Stunt Trax FX...

their are certain roms that work for certain emulators
