Wasn't Final Fantasy IV the equivalent of Final Fantasy II on the SNES. Because they were both SNES releases.

heres some FF 101 for kids.

FFI - USA, JPN [NES]
FFII - JPN [NES]
FFIII - JPN [NES]
FFIV - USA(FFII), JPN [SNES]
FFV - JPN [SNES]
FFVI - USA(FFIII), JPN [SNES]

of course the naming was fixed to the original numbering system when the games were re-released on psx.

Nope. This is how it is.

Final Fantasy II - Never Released on it's original system since Square thought the game would be to hard for Americans.

Final Fantasy III - Never Released on it's original system I forgot why.

Final Fantasy IV - Came out on the SNES as Final Fantasy II.

Final Fantasy V - Never Released on it's original system I forgot why.

Final Fantasy VI- Came out on the SNES as Final Fantasy III.

Everything Else has been going in the correct order since Final Fantasy VII.

FF1 was release for the NES here in the states

FF2 and FF3 weren't released in the states because there wasn't enough of a fan base for Final Fantasy games.

FF4 was released in the states as FF2

FF5 wasn't released in the states because final fantasy fans wanted something new... i.e. better graphics

FF6 was released in the states as FF3.




FF1 and FF2 were released in a set called the Dawn of Swords(or something like that) for GBA and PSX.

FF3 still hasn't been offically released in the states, but you can find a translatated rom to play it.

FF4 (Hard Version)was released with Crono Trigger in a set called (Crono Cross) for PSX, and was released by itself for GBA was FF4 Advance.

FF5 and FF6 were released in a set called FF:anthology for PSX.


NOTE: you can get a rom for each one of these, just know there isn't a FF6 rom, just the FF3 rom for SNES.

one other thing...

you can get FF1, 2 and 3, for NES as roms... and for SNES, you can get 2(which is really 4), 3 (which is really 6), 4 (hard version), and 5 as roms.

I thought sony was only allowing PS1 emulator?

Although Breath of Fire III and IV would also be on top of my list, since i never got the chance to play those two rpgs
