Didn't see a proper tutorial on PC Engine emus so here it goes...
Turbo Grafx 16 PC Engine Tutorial
First download your PC Engine emu. I prefer PCEP which is very stable on 2.0+, I'm 2.6. 1.5 users usually prefer HUE, it's very unstable unless you are 1.5. This tutorial is mainly for PCEP though.
After unzipping the mu place the EBOOT in a folder labeled as PCEP or HUE in your game folder, I hope you know how to do this...if not search the forums. If you're 1.5 you'll need the Seispsp tool to make a % folder too.
If using PCEP make sure you name the folder PCEP that you put the EBOOT in. If you don't it won't work, many people have had this problem.
Now we need to gather supplies. First, find a random Turbo Grafix 16 PC Engine rom, not iso, just a rom. Next find this specific rom, "Super CD-ROM2 System V3.00 (J)". Not the US hacked version, just the basic.
Now get the iso. It should come with mp3s, a .cue or two, and the iso.
NOTE: If you download the Iso in parts, don't worry, just unzip or unrar the first part and it will all unzip for you.
Now throw the random rom, Super CD-ROM2 System V3.00 (J), into the HUE or PCEP folder. Create a new folder for your iso game, and throw the iso, mp3's, and .cue's in there.
The names of the MP3's and Iso may be labeled as...
Delete the "track-" part on all of them.
Now...we're almost there.
Next we need the .toc. You can find some popular .toc's here. Scroll to the bottom.
If you can't find the TOC your looking for, just search and you shall recieve. :icon_wink
You may just have to copy what is written and paste it in notepad. After saving it, rename the ending, ".txt" to ".toc"
Place your TOC file in with the ISO and other stuff. Now, run your program.
When it comes up, select your random rom. If it works you should be playing your random rom. Go ahead, enjoy it a little if you like, but that's not why we're here...are we? :icon_smil
Now, press L, and select the CD option. Go into your game's file and select your TOC file for that. Nothing will happen, that's supposed to happen, now select "Super CD-ROM2 System V3.00 (J)" for your cartridge. If you did this right, you are now enjoying some genuine gaming. :Punk:
It didn't work!!!!
well, make sure the ISO is good, and that your TOC is correct. Make sure your random rom is good also. Make sure you have "Super CD-ROM2 System V3.00 (J)" and not the us hacked edition.
The music skips and stops
This is normal, the music bugs have yet to be worked out.
Your tutorial sucks
I'm sorry, please post and tell me how to better it, thank you.
