You can always type the url backward's, swap letters and whatnot - it wouldn't be a link then ;).
BTW, I was referring this to the 'PM me a rom' question.๏̯͡๏

While it is hypocritical, to not be able to talk about ISO's, I guess they are just worried about getting shut down. It would be a shame..kinda..if PSPU were shut down because of illegal talk. Truth is, no one cares anymore about the illegal..ness..of roms. I do wish that ISO talk were allowed here, but it never will be.

Well. If PSPUpdates doesn't want ISO discussion, respect it. If you want, go somewhere else to talk about it or just don't talk about it at all. I'm sure they have their reasons

See what you can do? Create a blog at blogspot and make people in this site who wants to discuss ISO and all other illegal talk there. Preferably forums.qj.blogspot.com
Just joking :)

For folks in the USA, ripping an ISO from a demo UMD is currently illegal under the U.S. DMCA.
The physical UMD media itself is considered by Sony as a form of copy protection since there ar no publicly-available UMD readers/writers.
And since the DMCA prevents circumventing copy-protection technology...well, 2 + 2 still equals jail time and court costs.
For everyone else, refer to your individual country's laws.

We operate under US Laws, so the U.S. DMCA is what we follow.
Zitat von iball
As for being hypocritical: why should you care? TeamOverload - I don't see what the issue is. ROMS are legal (public roms), iso's are not at this point in time, we have choosen to stand our ground, no matter what you will think of it. You guys have no say in our policies, so I would quit trying.Do you know who I am?

Look around this section, how many public domain roms do you see being discussed here? You seem to focus only on those. I can focus only on those homebrew ISOs that were made, so therefore those are PD and legal.
Im not trying to cause a huge debate, but I just want to have a good discussion and prove my point

Zitat von TeamOverload
How many public roms are there? How many homebrew ISO's are there (2 or 3?).
We discuss games because that is what they are. We are not breaking any laws, or have a chance of being shut down, so why worry? I don't see what you are trying to acheive in this discussion.Do you know who I am?

Sure there are plenty of Public Domain roms, but there are plenty of non public domain roms, and probably 95% of the discussion here is about non-PD roms, so you shouldn't use that as an excuse. Personally, it doesnt bother me too much, Im just curious, as both of them are forms of piracy.

na i think you dont get it...
Zitat von FrozenIpaq
ill have to repeat TO here...
99.9% of all Rom discussion is about illegal, non public domain roms. the rest is of course about public domain roms which is what you keep referring to.
there ARE legal public domain roms which can be used via the PSP but ALL threads that contain the word ISO are closed. why? were allowed to talk about them but not give help on how to use them or troubleshooting help.
yes roms are mostly from old games which could be used as an excuse but they are still illegal, like ISO's.
there is more but i cant be bothered to come up with a big post on it, lol.
personally i think the people running this site are hypocritical one minded 'people' that need to actually listen to people sometimes, your only human you know;)...
try and actually listen to what people say instead of closing off and repeating the same lame excuse *aimed at everyone*
-back to the discussion-
EDIT: jus read ure last post. so u allow rom talk because ure scared of losing people?...what the hell?...

Its hard to convince people of your opinion when you type like a moron.
Isnt that what the game discussion section is for? Anyways, im not saying it would be a bad thing they are mentioned, but when you are talking about help on how to get roms running on emulators(Which arent PD Roms), that is just as bad as helping getting an ISO running.
Zitat von FrozenIpaq

Yeah, but you run illegal roms don't you, and have you helped with them in the past?
Zitat von TeamOverload
Sure, you may think that, and we may think the same thing, but we will still allow it. I'll say this: I don't care if I am contradictory. It isnt illegal so there is no need to worryDo you know who I am?
-
05-18-2006, 11:24 AM #53
I have to agree with TO and Kos here.
If we can talk about Roms, why not ISOs? As long as we don't give links to them.D:

whats it got to do with if he does or doesnt? hes tlkin about the site not the users.
Zitat von FrozenIpaq
yea we know u dont care, maybe u shud take it what were saying.
Zitat von FrozenIpaq
it isnt illegal to talk about isos then i guess...
EDIT:im not saying we should talk about isos and roms. i think tehy should be classified as the same AS THEY ARE THE SAME minus the fact that most roms are older than isos.
if one is allowed to be discussed OPENLY then both should be. If one isnt to be discussed then neither should be AT ALL.

I dont fully understand why even mentioning ISOs isnt allowed, although it is your forums and your rules. I have never seen anyone need help on how to get a ROM running, so why not change the policy?
Allow discussion of ISOs but not to allow discussion on how to run them, and have the same policy for ROMs?

Simple, because the site admins say so. If you do not like the way we handle things here, feel free to leave.
Zitat von Gutya
ROMs and ISOs are not the same... I will not discuss this topic any further, we will not change our policy or view. The owners of this site run it the way they want.
@KOS: TO participates in helping with ROMs, and now he is against it, that is all I was trying to get at.
Mnky: what is there to discuss about something illegal as an ISO... there is no point.
End of discussion..giving me a headacheDo you know who I am?
