Changing ROM names

Im running A lot of emulators at the moment and I own quite a few roms for each. Can I rename these ROMs? Eample: Chrono trigger (u) (!).smc

The red bit is the bit I would like to rename. Would it stop the game from working? I dont want to mess around downloading all my roms again because i messes them up.

you can change the names
I would keep that stuff so you know what type of rom it is and you prob should compress the roms into a zip file to save space. Batch Zip is a great program.

I did that to all of my roms (because they were named the completely wrong thing), and they seem to work fine. Test it on one, because TYL can sometimes be picky.

B-E-A-utiful it work renamed wolfensteind3d (!).smc to wolfenstein3d.smc and it work like a charm! All that needs to be added to the emu is an updated cheat device :icon_razz

Anyway Im going to bed now this stomach ache is tearing me apart :mad:

You can change the name but you will lose your savestates unless you rename those as well.

There is a reason for the different tags at the end of ROMs, '(U) (E) [!]' etc. These are dumps scanned and verified by Cowering's GoodTools ROM renaming tools. It's a way to keep track of all the good and bad dumps out there, as there is more bad/hacked dumps than good dumps!

(U) USA Release
(J) Japan Release
(E) Europe Release
(W) World Release
(Mx) Multi-Language
(b) Bad Dump
(h) Hacked Dump
[!] Verified Good Dump <- most important

So don't rename! ;)
