Default problems with running mario rpg and star ocean on snes 0.4.2 me

Something tells me that these are problems that everyone experiences, but i'm hoping that all i need is a quick fix to the settings. when running mario rpg, it lags. by that, i mean every 2-4 seconds the psp reads the memory stick for about 5-7 seconds, making the game run unbearably slow. I've tried a bunch of random settings to no avail.

the problem with star ocean isn't the framerate or anything like that. when playing the english patched rom, most text appears alright. certain text, like item descriptions, are just jangled messes of static, or something.
So, any help please?

Thanks.

Settings to about 300 cpu clock

Frameskip to 1

sound on
frequency of sound to max
full screen(calibrated)
Vsync off
smooth emulation on

That should give you about 40-50 frames per second.

trust me, it will, in this version, it seems like if you do that, it will affect about 80% of all games.

actually it is in some way, but mostly because the graphics are a whole different level than most snes games, games that have a lagging problems are:

Super Mario RPG
Chrono Trigger (Sometimes)
Donkey Kong Country 1 (2 and 3 doesnt have any problems)

However using frameskip 1 and increasing sound frequency will help the games somewhat, if it doesnt work, you can always change the cpu clock to 266, 300, or even 333, if you have the patience to recharge the battery after a couple of hours(more like 3hrs).

sound frequency increases only worked in the bugged earlier version basil.. fastest now is sound OFF. (used to be fastest -> sound @ 44)
also just use 333mhz using eloader .96 (doesnt work on .97). If you use 333mhz on .97 it's @ 222mhz.. (bug with wifi features)
