Kirby games on the SNES do not work properly, the best quality is at:
333 MHZ CPU CLOCK 2-4 Frame Skip Frequency of Sound MAX Those are the best settings, however, even with that, it'll only play about 20 frames, which isnt very good compared to the other games which run on 40-45 frames per second.

It is sad, but true. Most Kirby roms for the SNES, including the beloved Kirby Allstars, do not run so swell. Do not fret! There are other ways to satisfy your Kirby Kraze.
NesterJ - The NES emulator is able to efficiantly play Kirby roms. GeMP - Homer's Gameboy emulator has many Kirby roms availible. Although there are no GBC Kirby's (To my limited knowledge), there are some old GB kirbys which are still fun to play. Granted, no Kirby is better than the one on the SNES, but its unforuntate. Maybe a Kirby ROM with speedhacks exists, but I am not too sure, I have been looking myself. It could be the ROM, or it could be the emulator. |

LOL, ya, knew someone was eventually would say something like that.
Anyways, ya, it seems like Nes is the best source for Kirby games to be playable in PSP, infact thats what i am currently playing too. Dont forget about the Gameboy Kirby games, the first two dreamland games were classics

I was doing some research. It turns out that the origional Kirby All Stars cartridge used the SA-1 chip. This chip was only used for three games, each of course, published by Nintendo. Kirby's Dream Land Three (Which also doesn't work that well), Super Mario RPG, and of ccourse, Kirby All Stars. My guess is that the emulator doesn't support the SA-1 chip functions. Actually, the chip was embedded in the cartridge for several reasons.
* Upgraded 10 MHz clock speed, up from a max of 3.58 MHz * Faster RAM * Memory mapping capabilities * Limited data storage and compression * New DMA modes such as bitmap to bitplane transfer * Built-in CIC lockout, for piracy protection and regional marketing control The chiped worked alongside the Super Nintendo's 5A22 CPU. In laymens terms, Kirby All Stars would run slow on the SNES without SA-1 Chip. From my knowledge, Super Mario RPG runs slow, and my assumption is that it is for the same reason. |

Yes, Starfox is the same idea, completly different chip though. The game came out in America for the SNES in March, 1993. This game was one of the first to boast the Super FX card, a 3D graphics accelerater, and retailed for an absurd $70. If you notice, no other SNES games uses polygons, infact, not many games in 1993 used polygons either. Starfox sets a high bar for 3D graphics at the time, something which any SNES for the PSP doesn't support.
Kirby Superstar came out in late 1996, much like Dreamland 3 and Super Mario RPG. The death of the SNES was imminent at this point, and these were considered to be some closing games. So, there wasn't much more use for those new chips if there were no cartridges to use them on. Besides, those games cost slightly more because of the increased chip. Also, all the games didn't need the chip to run fine. No other game needed the Super FX card used in star fox either. Who would want to buy a $70 console game?? And i am telling you for about a million times, its the same, sound was not fixed, because i have the latest snes emulator, and sound DOES make a major role in emulation, so buzz off.
