Problem with Chrono Trigger (and new game +)

Alright, so I just beat chrono trigger. I let the credits roll, it gets to the end of the credits, says "The End".

The cartridge requires you to reset the system to do it, so I went into the menu thing on the PSP, and hit reset. "Rom reset". And it wouldnt let me start a new game +.

Someone please help, this is very irritating.

BTW, I got the ending with Chrono and Marle holding each other while flying through the sky via baloons o.O

Hmm, its probably not saving the sram when you beat the game, you sure it didn't ask you to save your game after you beat it? I can't remember been so long since I beat chrono trigger..

uhhh there are like 13 endings to the game (well more like 10, but the other 3 are variations/cool ways to lose).

And no, it doesnt ask you to save. It just hangs at the end screen. The original Chrono Trigger required u to reset your system...

I swear there was end game save data, I guess the emulator isn't saving the sram who knows.

Yes, I know, I've beaten Chrono Trigger plenty of times. I just don't remember that PARTICULAR ending and I was wondering how he got it.

Well I basically completed everything in the game, then took the wings of time and punctured through Lavos, avoiding his first group of forms, and going straight to the final lavos cores.

Anyway, I'm guessing Im pretty screwed, seeing as to how it wont work.

anyone else beat it on PSP? If worst comes to worst, Ill just put it on PC and make a new game plus :think:

Yea I dunno, I beat it on the pc a few times over and I never remember there being a save data at the end, it just had the music playing over and over. So I just reset it and the new game+ appeared. I guess you should do the pc to psp transfer since something with the sram isn't working it seems.

Contains New Game + and a saved game inside the Dark Omen.

Just put it in your SNES/SAVES folder and rename it to match the name of your Chrono Trigger Rom.

Ill just transfer the saves to PC. Will the captured files work? Ones not through the actual save game?

I dont remember this game being this easy so long ago though lol.

Ok Im going to be transfering the saves to PC. Ill make sure to tell of the results.

Edit: Ok, I downloaded Snes9x v1.41-1
I also put the chrono trigger rom in the folder. I can get the rom to load, but I dont know how to get the saves to load? Where do I put them?

tried it before I posted, doesnt work.

yes it does

you have to wait until the letters "The End" come up on screen and sit there for a couple mins
then go to menu and save SRAM
then go to menu and hit restart ROM

new game plus then shows up, i just did it

Thats interesting, because it doesnt work for me.

I think its because when I reset the game (when I did the S ram thing) I didnt see new game + or something.

Oh well, I bought chrono cross anyway, Ill try this out again soon.

Sadly Chrono Cross is fairly dissapointing, especially after you have played Chrono Trigger.

Once you have cleared the game once (you must have beaten the Black Omen Side-Quest), you will unlock the New Game+ option. It will appear on the Choose a File screen in the upper-right corner. Starting a New Game under this option will allow you to begin a new game with all your previous items and stats (except for story items like the Masamune, etc.) Also, this is the only way you can unlock the other endings and face Lavos any time.

Not really a big secret since this feature is in a lot of SNES RPG's, but by
pressing Start, Select, L, and R at the same time, you will be able to reset
the game automatically.

Note there is no guarantee that either of these will solve you problems since this is not actually a SNES, but between the two you may find the answer to Game+ ... assuming the emulator isn't doing what it's supposed to (reset).

If you really want a new game +, download the savegame (.srm) file I posted on the first page...it has new game + and a saved game inside the Black Omen.

for chronotrigger newGame + you have to beat the game through the black omen (it's not that hard... neither is lavos for that matter... I beat him with just Chrono in new game + ... that was challenging... any way back on topic) and reset after the credits. I also think you have to save at the spot right inside lavos (after you beat the shell).

P.S. i also doubt that you have to do a sram save... that only erases when you restart the console

I had already gone through the omen 2 or 3 times, but left before the final boss (then after taking that person down, lavos comes) so I guess Ill just finish them off.
