i just got the emulation thing to work yesterday and have a good number of SNES games that i remember playing. i also got the NES emulator. however, the NES was a little before my time (i was born in '90) and i dont really know which games to put on it besides mario bros. any suggestions?

Not asking for links, just asking which games.

i got a few good ones for SNES chrono trigger and super star wars series. And i know you didnt want links but this site will meet all you nes and snes needs. Its Edited Out

This may sound funny but The karate kid for nes is great as well.

I was a Commodore 64 guy when the NES came out, but I have since discovered many fun games that I missed back in the day. My favorites are:

Castlevania - classic platformer
Macross - fantastic, albeit simple, shooter
Super Mario Bros. - you must experience the original
Final Fantasy I - again, the original must be experienced
Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari - much better than River City Ransom
Mickey's Mousecapades - not really a platformer, but lots of fun
Ninja Gaiden - more great classic platforming
Fisher Price Firehouse Rescue - try to keep from smiling over this one

And, finally, my very favorite game for the NES:

Shatterhand - fantastic run and fight, more action than Double Dragon

Also, be sure to check out Tokkyuu Shirei - Solbrain, the original Japanese version of Shatterhand. Same game, very different opening and graphics.

Some of the best games were on the Famicom. (Japanese NES)
Try Getsufuu Maden by Konami. It is a lot like Zelda II Adventure of Link.
Moon Crystal and Summer Carnival '92 - Recca are both fun Famicom games.

Earthbound for Snes and Earthbound Zero(Mother 1) are two great underrated, seldom heard of Rpgs you should definatly find if you are into that sort of thing.

Earthbound Zero is especially great because it was never actually released in the US but was completely translated and had some fully completed review copies/gold copies made. Someone bought one on Ebay for a bunch of money just to rom Dump it and bring it to the masses.

Destiny of an Emperor is not made by KOEI, it was made by Capcom... I also believe there is a part 2 to this, but it hasn't been translated yet. (That I know.)

Also Snake Rattle & Roll was a good platformer in 3/4 perspective. Already have Castlevania 3? Well then get Akumajou Densetsu, the translated Jap version of Castlevania 3, but with better music!

The Contras are good run n gun shooters, but try and get the translated version of it. I think both Gryzor and Contra E are it. They used the more superior sound chip just like Akumajou Densetsu 3 and also had more animation and cutscenes not seen in the US versions. :dance:

ya know, I hate rpg's (really, I do... I only really like Mario Supersaga, and Pokemon), but earthbound is pretty fun... I've only played it for about 45 mins. but it's looking really good... but I seggest the SNES one... the NES one is kinda gay...

Super Mario Bros. 1-3, Battletoads, Battletoads & Double Dragon, Castlevania. Jeopardy (25th anniversary edition) is pretty good too if you want a quiz-game on the go.
