yea sound isnt worth anything yet, its still in early stages.
my ideal settings are frame skip 6 sound off, turbo mode 1 or 2,disable gpu cache yes, render mode fit, disable sfx yes, swap analog yes, clock speed 333mhz, Armtick avarage 5 (6 is alot faster but dosnt work on some parts of some games)
I never apologize, I'm sorry, but that's just the way I am. i think if zx-81 cant get full emulation with sound then he should drop sound and focus on speed coz id much like the emulator working at full speed without sound rather than have one with sound and not full speed

Not really, because the sound is implemented in the media engine which does not effect the game speedwise.

I've tried numerous games with and without sound. Sound doesn't seem to make any difference on speed whatsoever. I've mainly stuck to using:
Hajime no Ippo - The Fighting

mainly because the speed of it has been the most noticeably upgraded. On PSPVBA 1.2.0 it wasn't playable. On 1.2.1 there was a bit of an upgrade, could hardly be played but it was playable. 1.2.2 it was playable but still fairly choppy. On the latest 1.2.3, it is easily playable but sound is still not cracked out yet. I would equate the performance on 1.2.3 to that of a frame skipped snes game over eloader. Playable, not full speed, but near enough to not be an annoyance.
I tried final fantasy tactics advance shortly after and it is hardly playable with probably 2-5 fps. I also tried Prince of Tennis Cool Blue and that one isn't playable at all. After the game starts and you serve, the game crashes. Meanwhile, golden sun has major graphical glitches.

The performance of the emulator really depends on the game, some play vastly better than others.

    Thats what I thought.

Snes9x TYL also uses ME for sound and there is almost no difference in speed when turned off.

Pokemon Emerald doesn`t even start for me. MMBN2 has crazy graphical issues. MMBN3 & 6 seem ok. Wario Ware is almost playable but has a graphic f*ck up at the first boss so its hard to proceed past there. DBZ legacy 2 works up until you enter pepper town. Can`t see ****.
