Yoshi's Island
Anyone had any luck getting Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island to work on any snes emu? I was using the snes9x tyl me and it was pretty sluggish. I diddled with frameskip, but it still wasn't satisfactory. I wouldn't think the gba one would run any smoother, but I haven't tried. Anyone had better luck?

I'm running on 1.5 and it runs smooth without freezing. I don't think it's super fast but I can play it perfectly.

Interesting.
I remember trying it and the whole game would glitch...all the graphics would mess up and stuff...I assumed it was the emulator...maybe it was the ROM.
Edit: I just found out what the problem was.
I was running the game without sound. If you run it without sound, you get graphical glitches in the levels. If you run it WITH sound, it works perfectly. Yay! I can finally play this again!Geändert von aDcOoL (08-08-2006 um 05:13 AM Uhr)

These settings are best in my opinion:
266 mhz cpu clock
Sound On
Frameskip 1
Full Screen(after Calibrated)
Sound Frequency 44100(or whatever the max is)
I find it sluggish in some parts, but only in parts like when kamek uses his magic or something like a boss increasing in size, other than that, the gameplay is fine, although you could still play it perfectly in 333 mhz.

What was the label of the rom, the one I'm using is this:
Super Mario World 2 - Yoshi's Island (U) (V1.0) [!]
I'm still having it go unplayable slow.

Well for the rom i am using, i get like 40-42 frames per second.
But in some parts, like before boss battles, when they are growing in size, it goes down like to 23-27 fps.

Yoshi's Island will probably never run 100% smooth on the PSP due to the fact it uses the Super FX 2 co-processor. Maybe another use for the ME in the future? Who knows.

Yeah, but it's annoying how the music slows down, then speeds up, then slows down, and so on...

The only problem i'm having with the game, is the lagging of the sound(sometimes), and some speed decrease before boss battles

What I mean is it will probably always need some sort of frameskip to become playable. Unless they sort think of another use for the Media Engine.

my yoshi island 2 runs about 40-45 fps which is still playable to me
to make it slightly faster change the sound to 22050hz because most games dont need 44100hz
