Default Anyone Ever play Earthbound Zero?

Yeah, lets say I'm deliberating on buying the cartridge for this game :shifty: , and I don't know if it's worth it. I was wondering if anyone had played it, and what their opinion of it was. I'm not talking about Earthbound, so no one gets confused. I'm talking about Earthbound Zero. Anyway, if anyone has any insight as to how good the game is, I'd like to hear it.

How can you buy the cart? I'm pretty sure that only 1 copy was ever made. Unless it's a homemade cart you're talking about.

Well...it's hypothetical...I don't want to say I'm downloading illegal roms, because that's not good, kids, never do it. :naughty:

heh, hiding the fact that you download roms on a rom discussion board. That's like going to an S&M convention and hiding your handcuffs.

To answer your question. I haven't played a lot of it but from what little I've seen it plays like Earthbound with lower quality graphics.

I've played it, but didnt care much for it. One of my firends played and loved it though, so I guess if you liked Earthbound get it, but if you've never played Earthbound, you might wanna skip. Earthbounds and "aquired" taste.

Yeah, probably right. I couldn't get into Earthbound, so I was hoping maybe for some reason I could get into Earthbound Zero...Probably not though, but thanks for the insight on it.

If Earthbound is Mother 2, does that make Earthbound Zero Mother 1?

Yes it does, and to the guy who said there was only ever one cart made, your right there’s only one!

Nintendo translated the game and printed a test cart then scraped releasing it in english territories. They then auctioned the cart in a charity auction, and some guy bought it in the states, I forget which one it was but a Rom dumping group raised like 3 or 4 grand to rent the cart from the guy who bought it, they dumped it and that’s how you play mother 1 in perfect english without a patch.

It wasn't 3 or 4 grand, it was $400 if I remember correctly.

Personally, I love Earthbound. I love it because it's so different from all other games, and it's got some pretty funny humor in it. Stuff that just catches you off guard is really all it is. Not to mention, as a kid it was cool playing it because you're playing a game that has a kid who has super powers who lives in the current time period.

But, if you didn't play Earthbound back when it came out, you're probably not going to like it now.

Actually, I first heard about both Metroid and Earthbound from wondering who Samus and Ness were upon their appearances in Super Smash Bros for the N64. When a way was finally developed for me to play these games on my 1.5 firmware PSP, the first thing I did was download Earthbound. I'm addicted to the game and fascinated by its self-parodying humor and in-jokes about nintendo rpgs, and I'll probably be trying super metroid soon, though many people say it doesnt work.
If you're curious about Ness and want to learn more about how he earned the right to fight alongside Mario and Link, check this game out. Ness truly is a cool character and you deserve to hear his story.
