Can anyone get Final Fantasy Tactics to not crash?
I loaded up a save on it and in my first mission, (with the imps) when i used blizzard to kill the monster my game crash ;_;
but then again.. i used blizard earlier, and it didnt crash :P

any fixes on that? i'd really appreciate it.

okay there's instructions on how to add your roms by finding certain locations in a hex editor. They're at the top of the game_config.txt

he probably just used a few random roms from his hard drive

if you want your rom working, there's not much to do other than add it to the game_config.txt as instructed at the top of that text file. Or mod the source

Makes it faster ingame. Also anyone know if we can use multiple eliminations for one game?

edit: "Battle" animations are still painfully slow, but I always preferred to play this game with all animation off anyway.

it probably doesn't hack the rom. They are read-only memory after all. It probably just changes the way it emulates that code. It would just see that loop and ignore it when it's emulating the rom as instructed in the game_config.txt. All without modifying anything in it. Now i have minimal programming knowledge but i'm pretty sure that's what happens

Easier way to find out game_name, game_code and vender_code is using a tool like GBA Tool Advance.

i'll post this for it idles two "BCC"s , it doesn't seem to improve the speed but anyway here you go.

no, you don't make your own file, there is already one supplied with the gpsp, you just add these blocks of code to it, save and put the file in your roms folder, and yes it makes some games run faster.

Ingame? how do u get ingame? at me it crashes at startup

I'm using a clean dump of the USA version of the game. I don't know how the JPN and EU releases are emulated (assuming pretty much the same), but if it's the USA release you're having trouble with you probably need to dump your cart again.

well, i tried getting the crash in the minish cap (U) fixed for the past half-hour. I entered every effing 8-digit piece of hex code i saw in that error message, but to no avail. Looks like the emulator can't render the map :Cry:

I heard you can get past the map glitch by upping the frameskip value for a bit (quite high if i can remember correctly) and lower it again when you're done with the map.

I used to own a GBA SP that got stolen and i've been dying to get to play AW2 on the go again. Now possible thanks to ********. A game worth playing is a game worth buying.

i'll try that, thanks. And i do own all these GBA games but i don't have the tools to dump them. So, i download like everyone else :D

oh dam, i'm having ur problem too :(

you can't cut bushes and when you lift them, you take a bush, but it's still there. So, you can't hack ur way out :Argh:

now to try metroid fusion. Even better, i'll just check out the new compatibility thread

what if you entered one elimination and then pressed enter twice, completely copied all your rom's info from before, and used a different elimination? Sorry if i had trouble putting that into words, so here's an example (don't put it into your config since i made it up):

#Super Mario Advance (U)
game_name = MARIO
game_code = AZBE
vender_code = 01
idle_loop_eliminate_targe t = 08000a00

#Super Mario Advance (U)
game_name = MARIO
game_code = AZBE
vender_code = 01
idle_loop_eliminate_targe t = 08000a01

would that work?

You can get past the castle in Minish Cap...but you can't cut down/pick up bushes due to a weird bug. So you can't get any further anyway.

No go, good idea tho.

At the moment it's pretty safe to assume it's not possible to use more than one per game. I hope future versions will allow us to insert these addresses straight in to the emulator. If speedhacks are even needed in the future that is of course.
