Basil Zero you dont have any CPS2, neo geo, or turbo gfx roms? If you dont man your missing out.
plAythiNG: There are many other emulators that are just as great of not better then the ones basil mentioned yet there roms are alot bigger such as neo geo, neo geo cd, Capcom Playsystem 2, Turbo gfx(roms for this are really small), neo geo pocket(also really small rom sizes), wonderswam, and a bunch others. The only really big file sizes ones are CPS and neo geos since they require cache files yet the emulator themselves are small the roms can be pretty big(like 20-60mb for CPS 2 and 30-100mb for neo geo unzipped tho). These emualtors are still great and worth getting Marvel vs Capcom is really fun on psp =) |

No not even close. 1st of of all RE4 aint 1st person. 2nd of all Metroid games are not any type of shooter. They have shooting eleemts but so does Silent Hill. Any real (non-linear) Metroid Game(Original, Metroid II, Super Metroid, Metroid Zero Mission) are: "Adventure games with emphasis on isolation and exploration in a foreign unknown alien environment. Metroid is a labyrinthe of mazes through the pysche. As you delve deeper into the planet all alone you uncover the hidden relics and upgrades along with the mysterious horrors that dwell." Metroid I for Example: 'Taken from IGN Meroid Boards' Mikesterx says... "Non-linearity: Metroid 1 is by far the most non-linear game of the Metroid series and definitely ranks among the most non-linear games of all time. Their goal was to break away from the traditional single direction side-scrollers of the era and they succeeded admirably, allowing backtracking, vertical areas, and so on... It was not only allowed but became a vital part of the game. Once you get the essential items (missiles and bombs) you can get anywhere except Tourian, you're given free roam through an expansive and treacherous maze. There is no sequence, no real direction, most items are optional (they really help if you can find them but aren't necessary), and so on. You are dropped in the planet and must find your own way to accomplish your goals. The Screw Attack is one of the first items I get simply because I know where it is. I would actually like to see future Metroid games return to this completely free-roaming style. The Primes are very linear by comparison. Music: Hip Tanaka wanted to craft a soundtrack that lended to the atmosphere and the feel of the game without seeming like actual music. He wanted something that wasn't catchy, but haunting. I think this best sums it up: ' The increased attention [to game music] spurred good-spirited rivalries between many game composers, a development that bothered Tanaka, since it forced composers to write in a way that he felt was contrary to the atmosphere of the games themselves. ' It was this dislike that inspired him to compose the subdued themes of Metroid. In his words, he tried "to create the sound without any distinctions between music and sound effects." He composed the music so as to deny the player a simple melody to hum along with; only after completing the game is any "catchy" music played." Psychology: Without getting into depth, this game strikes a cord on a deep level of the human psyche by the way it's constructed. Anybody who's read Joseph Campbell's "Hero with a Thousand Faces" or knows the psychology behind myths, symbols, darkness, underground labyrinths, monsters, and so on knows how this works. Early Horror: This game was probably one of the earliest attempts at the videogame horror genre. It was inspired by the sci-fi horror masterpiece "Alien" and it's darker and creepier than most of the dedicated horror titles of the NES (Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm St, and so on). This is in part due to the psychological underpinnings, but also resulting from the suspenseful music, nightmarish alien terrains, subdued/dark color schemes, etc. I would like to see future Metroid games effectively utilize suspense, and creepiness. Justin Bailey: I've actually been disappointed with subsequent Metroid titles because none of them have allowed you to play through the game as Samus with all the same abilities but without the suit (not counting that MZM section as that wasn't the same thing). It's not necessary, but it was a fun little extra. No Mercy: This game was unrelenting in its difficulty, but that only contributes to the already noteworthy experience. The game never held your hand, never hinted where you should go, never stopped pummeling you with opponents, and was not afraid to let you know you suck - Indeed one of my favorite aspects is that there is a worst ending where Samus turns away from you and hangs her head in shame. " Dont forget it & get your facts straight.

thats one person's opinion, but if u look on the logical side, Metroid Series is "Shooting", especially in terms of proof in terms of the Prime Series
one game just doesnt go from "Adventure" to shooting. and if u compare Metroid with Mario(and other adventure games) it would be easy to point out the obvious differences between the two genres and the similarities between Metroid and other shooters.

Honestly Bazil, this is a great list. I've used it when trying to decide on what to play next.
Off topic: I consider metroid to be a shooter/ action adventure game.... I mean it is possible to fall under more than one catagory. |

Yes, i am aware it can fall in more than one category, i checked it out at Nintendo.com, and it states it as "ACTION", but i'll list it as Shooting considering the fact that to me it has more of a shooting game elements, no offense to anyone

OMFG! Yeah but this person and I know what were talking about. We are actual followers of the series not casual gamers that know very little about the games or series. Yes and Mario is also a shooter. He shoots fireballs, Samus shoots lasers, Link shoots Arrows, Leon & Claire shoot guns. OMG, they are all Shooting games! Get the **** out of here! Metroid has Platforming elements more so than shooting. But its not called a platformer. Its hailed as the best game ever by EGM(2001 100 top games of all time) and by many Metroid fans. EGM said it was one of the best if not the best platformer. Which is laughable because its more than just a platformer, its much more than a mario game. It has platrforming & shooting elements. But the most of what you're doing is exploring all the hidden nooks and crannies of these cavernous underground environments on these alien planets. Read above posts for proof. Yeah the Prime games are FPA, First Person Adventure games. Theres a reason why Metroid fans get pissed when idiots compare it to Halo. BECAUSE ITS NOT A FPS! You know whats a damn shooting game? Contra or Gradius. Those are solely Shooting games because thats the aspect thats emphasized. Whats emphasized in Metroid is exploration. But also on the other hand Metroid Prime Hunters. Its dull subpar FPS for a handheld, and its shunned by Metroid fans cause it AINT a Metroid game. Its a spin-off, and it sucks quite frankly. Its as Resident Evil as RE4. Or as Star Fox as Star Fox Adventures. This is the absolute truth about Metroid. It has nothing to with opinion. Its FACT! If you still disagree thats fine, but you can wholeheartedly & noobishly go to the IGN Metroid board and ask, 'Is Metroid considered a shooting game?'. Your head wont be torn off, because they are all nice intelligent people partly due to the fact that they are fans of such a thought provoking series, but you'll get your facts straight. I dare you. Im serious heres the link: htp://boards.ign.com/metroid/b5217/p1 Prepare to be welcomed, accepted and amazed or forever be misinformed. thats all I can say. EDIT: You forgot to mention that Nintendo.com also lists the Original as 'Adventure'. There is as much shooting in that as there is in Metroid II, Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, Metroid Zero Mission, Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2.
