Yeah...it did suck how the music in games on the PS1 were ten times better than N64.
That could mean either that Sony cares a lot about audio quality and nintendo doesnt, or nintendo cares enough about game quality to compress audio into the familiar "doop doop doop" we've been listening to since the NES.
It's a shame sometimes. Nintendo music is nostalgic, but at the same time makes your ears bleed.

Am I the only one here who would gladly trade in a psone emu for a n64 emu? The roms are MUCH smaller, the graphics are about the same, and theres golden eye to consider. And starfox 64. And Smash Brothers. And many many others.

Am I happy about the psone emu coming along so nicely? Yes ^_^. Great job guys. Now if someone could make a working n64 emu...I would love them forever. Because when I think of psone emu...all I can see is the need to buy a much larger mem card.

Disc change is so simple. For FF VII you save before the disc change. Save the game, Exit the emulator, swap the ISO's and load up the disc 2 iso and go to load game. It's the games like MGS which don't have a save option before the change that will be the problem.

he emu will probably support iso changing via the menu... dont think that would be all that hard... its in most PSX emus anyways

Only if they get a decent speed multiplayer feature (and expansion pak). The PSOne is more of a solo system. What made the 64 great was all the Goldeneye and conkers death matches... and SSB.

MGS does have a save before the disc change so that would not be a problem. i am lookin forward to all the advances that the ps1 emulator is gonna do as well as a 64 one. I will be using both, the point of having a 1gig memstick

No, there is one reason for this, the PS1 used CDs and the N64 used carts. There simply isn't the space on a cart to store FMV or good quality audio and that is the only reason why sound on N64 was a bit sucky.

An n64 emu would own everybody's ****. And since it has only one analog stick, the controls would be good.

**** are you kidding me...that would be a nightmare...lets analyze:

    PSP:
    2 Shoulder Buttons
    4 Direction buttons
    1 Joystick
    4 Rightside Buttons
    Start and Select

    n64:
    2 Shoulder Buttons
    4 direction buttons
    1 Joysitck
    6 Rightside buttons
    Start...and Z!?

so yeah...besides the 6 rightside buttons, it would be easy to map out...but hell with it

Someone's already come up with a perfect n64 controller layout, and if he reads that he WILL correct you.

Not sure what I think about having to purchase an entire new 1GB memory stick just so that I can run PSone games on my PSP. A lot of these games are 500 to 700 MB in size.

Plus, how the hell would the "switch disc" function work? Especially since, in the case of the final fantasy games, you wouldn't be able to fit disc 1 and disc 2 on your mem card at the same time. That would be well over a GB. Unless you have a 2 GB stick. Even then, will this PSP emulator even have a working "Switch Disc" function included.

well...im just busy ripping ISOs out of my games right now...so far i got Disk 1 of FFVII and FFVIII, which should keep me entertained for now FF wise...and then FFT and Soul Reaver. FFT is small enough to fit on a 512, but my prob is i dont know how to convert from .iso to the .psx that the demo seem to be converted to...anyone want to enlighten me?

I hear that those kind of games have a save right before the disk change, so you could easily swap out the iso on your psp for the one of the next disk on your comp and load the save.

I didn't even know it used a different format. Well I'm sure the EMU should come with a converter upon release.

Dude, I seriously don't have time to sit down and play an RPG game on my PSP.

I only have the original FF's that were on SNES for that nostalgic sense.

Anyways, I plan on getting R-Type Delta, Metal Gear Solid, Twisted Metal 2, Vigilante 8, Silent Bomber, War Hawk and of course, Resident Evil 2.

I have all these games, but I'm not doing to decrypt them until I know if this PSPSONE thing is actually going to happen. :naughty:

I really not trying to be a jerk here...

    BUT

Playstation 1 games are still sold in stores...hence this is talk of piracy...hence where is the mighty Mod hammer of Thor????

Anyway, I want to play Resident Evil 1,2, & 3 on the go, Castlevania: Sotn, the original Silent Hill (never did beat it), MGS...maybe more but that would be a good start........

Sauren, yes they are still sold in stores, but not new. I could say the same thing about SNES and Genesis games I see piles of those in my local eb all the time. Even if you bought any psx games from said stores the companie's who made the game are gonna get nothing out of you buying a used game, because since its used, they've already made their sale. Buying used games is only lining the pockets of EB, since they like to buy said games for 10% of what they sell them for. Example, I sell them Link to the past, they give me a whopping $0.50. I come in the next day, their selling it for $20.

While I love SOTN, I still think Dracula X Rondo Of Blood for the PC Engine CDRom is a much better game over all.

Castlevania SOTN seemed to play too much like Metroid.

    I would get
    A bigger memory stick
    then download isos for
    Final Fantasy VII
    Tomb Raider 2-4
    Mortal Kombat 4 and trilogy
    Digimon World 1
    Medal of Honor
    Medal of Honor Underground
    Test Drive 4 or 5
    Tekken 2,3
um wow there are so many games that I would get I just don't feel like typping them all up, can't wait for this to come.

Well, I would only emulate the games I currently have.

Speaking of inferior console sounds, the same stays true for the Gamecube (FYI) due to the limited space on the GCN disc as opposed to the full blooded DVDs of the XBox and PS2...thus causing either compression or yet MORE MIDI music. As a disc based media, though, there still should be no excuse. If the next Zelda is NOT fully orchestrated (hasn't been decided yet) that will be the final nail in Link's coffin for me.
