The original thread by pacman states that he has added support for running .iso's ans also for running compressed iso's in the .gz format. So games would be considerably smaller than 700mbs. Also he stated that the games loaded and ran faster in a compressed form. Just thought I'd post this here so everyone stops complaining so much about size.

does any one have a link to a program that rips the iso's without sound and or fmvs? That will save a lot of space (although sad to lose some of the ff fmvs)

As far as I know the alpha is available for download, but it runs slowly, like 5 fps, and it can only run demo isos or something. I'm not sure when the final product is coming out, but I look forward to it.
Eagerly awaiting the possibility of a
PSOne Emu
N64 Emu
Flash Player (seems entirely possible yet nobody wants to bother)
And of course I would like to see a legal browser that is actually good. Not that I have anything against the illegal ones... I just can't f*cking find them...

Please don't use vulgar language, and they are actually very easy to find, if you can find roms and isos then you should have no trouble finding the Tenchi browser.

Sorry about that brain. I dont want to offend anybody.
Zitat von brain_stew
However, i did say that I couldn't find isos, so I'm not really getting what you're telling me.
I did find tenchi like two minutes after i posted that, but it was because someone had a link to it in their sig. I'm currently getting opinions over whether I should download winrar in order to unpack tenchi or if I should just stick to 2chen. So far its looking like I'm going to give tenchi a try.
Anyway, as for roms, I have no problem finding them. Isos are a completely different story.

So if we re-encode all the pps files to a lower bit rate and rez and lowered the audio then compressed it we would be talking about a big drop in file size. But does anyone have idea of an actual average percentage of the file size reduction.

Actually two. But you were close.
Zitat von C0nfus1on
There isn't a second thumbstick, and we're missing the L and R 2 buttons, but the L and R 2 buttons can be easilly remapped by using a button to toggle L to L2 and R to R2. However I got in an extremely rediculous fight over the use of R and R2 at the same time, so... yeah... bugs to be worked out.
Also, the original psone controller didnt have any thumbsticks, so most games should work fine without even the existing thumbpad.

Just wanted to inform everybody that has issues regarding the size of PS1 games. There is a PS1-emulator for pocket pc called FPSEce that has been out for some years now, and they have refined the way of shrinking ISOs and utilizing every aspect of power in a 400MhZ device which was never meant for gaming. For PSP (which is already immensly popular, and will be even more so after the europe-release in september) the development will probably go faster and further. Please check this link to FPSEce homepage and go to the compatibility list. There you can browse the different games that work and view details about size etc.
For example:
Game Name: Final fantasy 7
FPSEce Version: 0.09
Location of ISO: Storage Card (Normal Speed)
Ripped or Full: ripped, to 310Mb.
Compression: No
Playable: yes
Information/Bugs: very close to full speed
FPS: -
Device Name: Asus A620
