Ya...I know the game had the SVP chip. The game is emulated in Gens, Kega, and a couple other emus for PC. I have tried the rom in DGEN and PSPGenesis, but those emus dont emulate the SVP yet. Is there any other Genesis emus for PSP that maybe does emulate the SVP chip for Virtua Racing, thus making the game functional?

There are no genesis emulators at all that emulate the svp processor. To be honest there probably never will be.

Someone bored programmer is gonna see this thread and probably start working on a solution right away, don't worry. It'll probably be along some day, though not necessarily soon.

As my original thread said there are. GenS and Kega Fusion are Genesis/Sega CD/32X emulators. Virtua Racing for the Genesis and the 32X version work full speed with sound. I play them all the time. Only the Genesis version had the SVP chip and it is emulated in those emus, but they are for PC.

As far as i'm aware mate neither of those emulators work with Genesis Virtua Racing. Got a screenshot by any chance?

That can be faked. Better to just run yourself and try it. Real easy to do.

no .. no psp genesis emulators will run virtua racing right now. I tried all the different roms with both genesis emulators and it didn't work on either.

As far as I know, no Genesis emulator emulates the SVP chip. The only way to get the game working is to find the Virtua Racing Deluxe 32X version.

From a post in Gens forums:

"Virtua Racing uses the Sega Virtual Processor chip for the 3d polygon graphics. it is rumored to be a Hitachi SH-1 processor, predecessor to the Hitachi SH-2 processors used in the 32x, but is in fact different, so different, no one still has a clue about it. the fact that Virtua Racing is the only released game to use the SVP chip, also doesn't help.
the 32x version on the other hand, just does everything using the 32x hardware. nothing special hardwarewise is done."

It would probally take a totally redesigned emu to make this game run right on the psp.. Like a single game emu that intergrates the svp chip functions to play this game.. Any other emu with svp on the pc ported over to psp will probally run slow or it could be possible to reprogram to work ok maybe.. Porting a 32x emu over will probally run really really slow.
