gpsp saved games not compatible with VBA?

I'm having trouble getting my gpsp saved game files to work with vba. when I try to load a pokemon emerald saved game I get the following message:

Also, when I try to load the save file from within VBA using File>Load... or File<Open... the save file doesn't even show up. Are gpsp save files supposed to be incompatible, or is there something wrong?

Are we talking VBA for PSP or VBA of PC? I know for a fact that saves from GPSP work great on the PC VBA. If that's where the problem is, you're either running an outdated VBA or you don't have it set to 128k saves before loading the rom. I know nothing of PSPVBA.

PSPVBA is useless dont even go there

but the PC version of the VBA will accept the saved files both the save states and the regular saves, just like Paburo stated.

Well, using the bios you use for the gpsp on the vba will allow gpsp saves to be read by the vba, the savestates are different stories. Most of them aren'[t compatible with the VBA, I've been researching this and haven'[t been able to draw a concluysion as of yet.

You also need to Sram patch your roms with the gbata tool if you can, that gets rid of save problems most of the time, this doesn'[t work for some games like Pokemon Dungeon. I've created a save-patch fix for it but I haven't submitted it to pocketheaven yet.

I can't get to load the saved file for Mario VS DK either. I tried using the lates VBA 1.8 and I set it up to 128k Saves but the saved file won't show up when I select load game. Is there anything else I have to do?

check how big the VBA save states are, and change it that size, it should be ok in terms of default

also, try using save states, they work more usually.

Could be because that game uses 64KB flash..

I'm not sure which one are the save states, I have 3 files on the same folder of the Mario VS DK, there's the main game then SAV file, SVS file, and CFG file. Which one do I need to load or make smaller since none of them show up.

I forgot to ask how do you covert it and make it smaller? The state file I get from VBA is SGML and it's 8KB big. The SVS is 496KBs.

u actually have to save it in the emu, u cant convert it using a separate program(from what i know).

SGML? i dont believe i heard that before...i get similar size kb saves with both Gpsp and VBA(PC), but that was after 2 hours of frustration.

Whenever I save it, it saves it to a file kinna like Microsoft Word, that's probably why it's a SGML file. Do you know if i can make VBA save a save state using SVS, or will gPSP be able to load SGML save states?

just change the extensions is another way

whatever extension save states for VBA have, copy that extension and replace it with the Gpsp(svs) extension(write over it) and it should work

The saves from gPSP to the VBA PC works for me. I uses the VBA PC to import cheats on the game and save it. Then port the save file to the gpSP and it works. BTW I am talking about Pokemon Fire Red and cheats for like rare candy and master balls. It should work with all the Pokemon games.

I still can't get it to work, the gPSP save states won't even appear on the load window. Even when I change the extension to SVS, is there anything else I can do? I really want to play Mario Vs DK.

I'm trying to get gPSP save states or save files to work on VBA, but I was saying that when I load the ROM, the same one I use for gPSP and when I choose load state the files won't appear. The only one that appears is the one I save on the computer using the same VBA, even when I got all my gPSP files in the same folder.

I got gbata, how can I patch the rom? Which options should I select?
