Default Speeding up roms?

Just a thought: maybe the people who really know this stuff well can confirm/disprove this. Anyways, I was wondering whether it would speed up roms if I emulated FW 1.5 using DevHook with the CPU overclocked? It seems like it would, but I don't have the 1.5 files handy and I forget how to make them. lol I'll try to test it if I don't fall asleep.

Devhook might slow the process. It'd be best to use 2.71 Se-C or 1.50 custom FW with an overclock module to try it.

However, popular emu's, like SNES TYL, already have overclock built in.

Yes, I agree with Hardrive. DevHook loads Firmware modules totally into the RAM, and I would think they would still be present when you are running homebrew on DevHook.

install custom firmware if you want to try it, but still, almost all of the emulators out there are full speed (N64 and PS1 being exceptions) so you wouldn't need overclocking. if you wanted to see if you get a better framerate on mario 64 with 333 then go ahead, but I really don't think it'll work (that's just me)

It adds about two frames more for me at 333 in Daedalus.

Actually, 333MHz is required for a lot of SNES games to run full speed. Also, 333MHz up from 222MHz on Daedalus should actually produce decent performance increase. Might be anywhere from 2-5 frames, but considering our current standing, thats not bad.

i disagree with the fact that you say 333 mhz is required for most SNES games , i dont believe that, i say certain games which have specially created graphic wise and are differently coded need 333 mhz, examples include:

Donkey Kong Country
Super Mario RPG
Yoshi's Island
Star Fox

but games like all the FF games and Super Mario World all run perfectly with 222 mhz 0 fskip
-= Double Post =-
but its surprising to see that DKC2 and DKC3 which have more better graphics only need 222 mhz to actually play than the first game

It all depends on the game. Yes, games like DKC, Super Mario RPG, Yoshi's Island, Star Fox, Tales of Phantasia, and even simple stuff like Monopoly get slowdown, or either definitely need 333MHz to perform well.
